After years of waiting, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is only one month away, and levels of fan hype are starting to hit their peak. After an excellent first gameplay reveal back in May, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has only continued to keep the hype train rolling, with an engrossing story trailer dropping just a little while later, and now a recent State of Play trailer giving fans a brief overview of how Marvel's Spider-Man 2's open-world is going to look and feel to traverse.

The most recent Marvel's Spider-Man 2 trailer didn't technically reveal too many new details, but it did finally show some major elements that Insomniac had previously teased. Seamless open-world side missions, faster web-swinging, even more swing-out animations than the last two games, and the inclusion of Web Wings - this latest Spider-Man 2 trailer peeled back the curtain on some of the game's most exciting new features. One of the most promising reveals centered around the game's bevy of new Spidey suits, with one in particular already looking as though it might be the fan-favorite pick.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Raimi Symbiote

Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3 has a strange legacy. When Spider-Man 3 first released in May 2007, fans and critics alike despised it. With too many villains, not enough action set-pieces, some awful dialogue, a ton of cliched plot beats, and practically none of the heart that made the previous two movies so special, Spider-Man 3 was panned by all who saw it, and it's still widely regarded as one of the worst mainstream superhero movies ever made.

But over the last few years, Spider-Man 3 has found redemption in the eyes of some fans. Much like the Star Wars prequels, those who grew up watching Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy are starting to come together and share their appreciation for the entire series, including the much-maligned third entry. While Spider-Man 3 is undeniably disappointing, it isn't completely irredeemable, and there are some elements that hold a special place in fans' hearts - and one such element is the movie's take on the Symbiote suit.

One of the most popular Spider-Man comic arcs of all time, the Symbiote suit is only a matter of when, not if for just about any version of the Wall-Crawler, and though it was forced into Sam Raimi's third movie, he did a fine job of translating it to live-action for the first time. Essentially just a deep black version of the now-beloved live-action Raimi Spider-Man suit, Spider-Man 3's Symbiote costume is simple but effective, and it makes complete sense that it would show up in Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is set to have over 65 Spidey suits at launch, and the latest trailer showcased a good few of them. Visible for just a brief second or two, Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3 Symbiote suit is shown in the latest Marvel's Spider-Man 2 trailer, and already it seems like a safe bet to assume that it'll be a fan-favorite costume. Even with 64 other Spidey suits, and the multiple color variations that each one could come with, it's going to take a lot for Marvel's Spider-Man 2's other costumes to beat out the Sam Raimi Symbiote suit. Much like the classic red-and-blue Raimi suit in the first game, fans have been pleading with Insomniac for Raimi's Symbiote suit to make it into the sequel, and now that it's been confirmed, it seems as though fans will want for nothing in Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launches on October 20, exclusively for PS5.
