Highlights

  • Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is very likely to get a PC port next year based on Sony's history of porting exclusives within two years.
  • Following past patterns, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 could launch on PC in October 2025, around two years after its initial release.
  • Fans might get better visuals, resolutions, framerates, and possibly extra content if Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is ported to PC.

After an unauthorized PC port of Insomniac's Marvel's Spider-Man 2 attempted to see the light of day in January, the developer has yet to confirm whether an official version of its latest hit will swing onto PC anytime soon. However, it's safe to assume it eventually will, as both Marvel's Spider-Man and Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales eventually made their way to PC and Sony has continued to show that it is more than willing to see its biggest exclusives ported at some point.

Barring Marvel's Spider-Man 2 eventually launching on PC, the only question that remains is when it will happen. While it may seem like it's too soon to tell, Sony and Insomniac have established a rather predictable release pattern over the last six years that could likely be very telling of when Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will grace the PC market with its presence.

Predicting Marvel's Spider-Man 2's PC Release Date

Former PlayStation Exclusives That Can Now Be Played on PC

PlayStation exclusives, especially those released after 2020, have relied on a fairly consistent launch schedule, with most of them ported to PC around their second anniversary:

  • Horizon Zero Dawn (PS4 in February 2017; PC in August 2020)
  • God of War (PS4 in April 2018; PC in January 2022)
  • Marvel's Spider-Man (PS4 in September 2018; PS5 in November 2020; PC in August 2022)
  • Days Gone (PS4 in April 2019; PC in May 2021)
  • Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales (PS4 and PS5 in November 2020; PC in November 2022)
  • Returnal (PS5 in April 2021; PC in February 2023)
  • Horizon Forbidden West (PS5 in February 2022; PC in March 2024)

For the most part, almost every one of PlayStation's biggest exclusives since 2020 was ported to PC within two years of its initial release date. Of course, this leaves out Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War, and Marvel's Spider-Man, but this is likely due to the impending launch of the PS5 at the time being more of a priority than adapting exclusives for PC. Since its launch in 2020, the PS5's capabilities have undoubtedly helped developers bridge the gap between console and PC, which is presumably why these ports are happening quicker and more regularly now. All of this considered, it's possible to pinpoint an approximate release window for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 on PC.

When Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Could Launch on PC

Based on PlayStation's history with exclusives coming to PC, there is a somewhat clear release window for Marvel's Spider-Man 2's PC port, assuming Sony follows the same pattern. Considering most PlayStation exclusives have been ported to PC almost exactly two years after their initial release date, even down to the month, it's entirely possible Marvel's Spider-Man 2 could make its way to PC in October 2025, as it initially launched on PS5 in October 2023. This would be nearly identical to Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales' pattern, which saw it launch on PS4 and PS5 in November 2020 and then on PC in November 2022.

Sony has confirmed in the past that PlayStation exclusives would see at least a year between their initial release and PC ports, so Marvel's Spider-Man 2 could launch on PC sooner than October 2025.

While it's currently unclear whether Insomniac and Sony will eventually port Marvel's Spider-Man 2 to PC, it's more than likely going to happen, as both of its predecessors made their way over to PC at some point as well. If it does get ported to PC in the next year or so, it may potentially bring along with it better visuals, increased resolutions, higher framerates, and perhaps even extra content. Until then, however, fans can tide themselves over with Marvel's Spider-Man 2's New Game Plus mode.
