One savvy modder has created an amazing main menu concept for the upcoming PS5 game, Marvel's Spider-Man 2. Marvel's Spider-Man is an action-adventure video game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The series is based on the comic book superhero, and pulls narrative inspiration from the long-running comic book series.
A sequel for the first Marvel's Spider-Man is currently in development and both Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered and Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales have received PC ports to bring the web-slinging adventures to a new audience alongside the capability of adding mods to the game. Fans of the series are otherwise waiting in anticipation for an official release date, but as of now Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is scheduled for a release window of Fall 2023.
One particularly eager fan decided to create a concept for what the main menu of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 could potentially look like. ItIs_SPID posted their concept in a Spider-Man subreddit that has gained over 1.4k upvotes. In the post there is a video that shows Spider-Man overlooking a dark New York City sky as the player goes through the menu and browses through the difficulty options.
Fellow Redditors replied to the post with their reactions to the Marvel's Spider-Man 2 menu. One user complimented the concept but added that they would prefer a menu that starts off more uplifting and then slowly progresses to a more dark theme to emphasize the tonal shifts and add to the atmosphere of the game. Someone replied to this suggestion and added that this type of menu change is present in Portal 2 as well. Others commented on the presentation of the menu and pointed out how the shadows create an illusion of a symbiote suit, while Peter's breathing seems more sporadic to symbolize the darker story.
Marvel's Spider-Man is currently one of PlayStation's biggest first party titles, and the upcoming sequel is ever-present on the minds of the wall-crawler's fans. As reflected by their review scores, these games are some of the best superhero titles out there, and now that both of them are playable on PC, fans are able to breathe new life into them by form of custom content. It will certainly be interesting to see what Insomniac Games has in store for fans of the Marvel's Spider-Man series, and hopefully the studio will soon share more details on the Wolverine game that it is currently working on as well.
