Insomniac Games has just given players another look at the sinister Kraven the Hunter ahead of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s launch next month. Sergei Kravinoff is one of Spider-Man’s oldest enemies in the world of Marvel Comics, having first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man’s 47th issue way back in 1967. He is a big game hunter and mercenary who wishes to test his skills against the powerful wall-crawler, and this battle has played out in numerous Spider-Man video games like the Sam Raimi movie tie-ins and Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions.

Kraven was absent from both the first Marvel’s Spider-Man and 2020’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, but the glory-seeking hunter will make his presence known in the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Just like in the comics, Kraven comes to New York City for a greater challenge against the various super-beings of Manhattan, but he and his crew of mercenaries could get more than they bargained for when Peter Parker becomes infected with the corrupting Venom Symbiote.

While players could only hear Red Dead Redemption 2’s Jim Pirri as the voice of Kraven the Hunter in the initial Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 teaser, the bloodthirsty Russian mercenary finally appeared in the flesh during May’s Spider-Man 2 gameplay trailer. Fans have praised Kraven’s comic-accurate appearance so far, and the official Insomniac Twitter account recently posted a new promotional image of the Hunter in the build-up to Spider-Man 2’s launch on October 20. Kraven can be seen in his lion-inspired hunting garb, with a large skull mounted on his shoulder and a large hunting knife in his hand.

This new look at Kraven the Hunter is just one of the promotional Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 posters released by Insomniac, who recently put out a similar image of Peter’s new black Symbiote costume. With pre-orders for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 now available and the October 20 release date approaching, advertising for the upcoming superhero title has gone into high gear over the past couple of months. For example, the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Collector’s Edition PS5 bundle sold out almost immediately after going live, though it recently made social media headlines for some rather questionable reasons regarding Venom.

Kraven the Hunter’s involvement in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will likely be no laughing matter, and the superhuman-tracking mercenary can now be seen in all his glory thanks to the latest promotional image from Insomniac. The developers have done a remarkable job of translating Kraven’s usual tribal look into the world of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and players won’t have to wait too much longer to match their wits against this deadly warrior in the latest Marvel video game.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launches on October 20 for PlayStation 5.
