This next installment in the series was first announced back in 2021, showing off both Peter Parker and Miles Morales working together against a group of enemies, along with teasing the arrival of some of its iconic villains like Kraven the Hunter and Venom. Despite being announced two years ago, the game has not delivered much in terms of new footage or promotional material.There have been smaller ways to promote the game such as a teaser video within a generalized PS5 showcase and a prequel comic to Marvel's Spider-Man 2 that was released for Free Comic Book day last week, setting up the events of the sequel. Insomniac has been steadfast in reassuring fans that the game will be out sometime this year, after some have voiced their concerns about the game's lack of updates. Despite the lack of info, the staff behind the sequel have a very positive message for fans looking forward to the game, as indicated by the narrative director's recent statement.During a recent Twitch stream hosted on Insomniac Games' official Twitch channel, Paquette states that the studio was working very hard to make sure that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is the best game that the team had ever made. He states during a segment that he was very excited about the game, and while there was a lot he couldn't talk about immediately, he couldn't wait to share what Insomniac has developed with the fans.
This statement should be incredibly encouraging, as Insomniac Games' output in recent years has been very well received. This includes the likes of Sunset Overdrive, the aforementioned Spider-Man games, and the PS5 exclusive Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart from 2021. Information regarding Spider-Man 2 has been kept pretty close to the chest, with leaks and rumors also muddying things and make it difficult to pinpoint what is being included.
