Even though the comics have shown Peter to have different romantic partners during various storylines, with the 2018 game also showcasing Black Cat as his former love interest, the dynamic between MJ and Peter still remains a fan-favorite. With their story continuing in Spider-Man 2, an eagle-eyed fan has spotted a cute detail about the couple which is visible during a recently released story trailer.
Spotted by Reddit user Massive-Ad3457, the trailer shows a moment where Peter and MJ are introducing Harry Osborn to Miles Morales, where they are seemingly wearing matching outfits, further confirming that their relationship is going strong. Both Peter and MJ are seen wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans, paired with a brown jacket. While this is only shown for a fleeting moment during the trailer, players found this detail to be adorable and several fans also appreciated the fact Spider-Man 2 is continuing Peter and MJ’s relationship.
While the community enjoyed this endearing detail, some fans were seemingly unhappy with MJ’s character model shown in the trailer and alleged that Insomniac has changed it. This was a direct reminder of the controversy that followed when PS5’s Spider-Man Remastered changed Peter’s character model. However, Insomniac denied the claims about MJ being recast in Spider-Man 2, and confirmed that she has the same voice actress and character model. The developer also insisted that the difference in the character’s look should be attributed to improved face-scanning tech and MJ’s new hairstyle.
