The developers of Insomniac Games have just unveiled more information about how Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will deal with difficulty and accessibility options, which will offer extensive customization. Recently, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 went gold, and now the devs are gearing up to launch the game on October 20.

Ever since its announcement, the sequel of the PS4 best-seller Spider-Man has been promising to improve the series in several ways. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will feature two protagonists, Peter Parker and Miles Morales, who will explore an even bigger chunk of New York and fight new enemies. Fortunately, it also seems that this will be a very customizable experience that will cater to as many gamers and playing styles as possible.

Insomniac Games recently explained more about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 difficulty customization and accessibility options on the PlayStation Blog. The game will be launched with “Challenge Level Modifiers,” which will be put in place of the usual difficulty sliders. By using it, players will be able to tweak gameplay in several ways, such as changing how much damage enemies do, as well as other parameters regarding their health, speed, parry timing, and more. They may also be able to simplify the game’s puzzles or even enable options such as Chase Assist or Enhanced Auto Aim. One of the main highlights of these options is the previously revealed “Game Speed” setting, which essentially slows down the game to help people who may need longer reaction times during the most action-heavy parts of the experience.

Spider-Man 2 is one of the most eagerly awaited PS5 games of 2023, and a diverse range of people will want to play it. Taking that into account, Insomniac Games also included audio accessibility options, such as Audio Frequency Controls, which allow gamers to disable uncomfortable sounds, as well as accessible controllers. While not all features will be available at launch, the team also highlighted that post-launch accessibility features will include in-game audio descriptions, a screen reader that can be used on menus, and captions for all key moments of the gameplay.

These accessibility features are not everything that the new Spider-Man game will bring to the table, though. Some of the best additions to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 include the new web wings, an expanded map that includes Brooklyn and Queens, and parrying. Gamers will have an extensive range of new toys to play with in this game and, thanks to the accessibility options, the overall experience will be just as hard as the player wishes.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 releases on October 20, exclusively for PS5.
