  • The cinematic trailer, titled "Be Greater. Together.," sets up the game's tone and story perfectly, showcasing the two Spider-Men joining forces to take on Venom. However, fans should remember that the trailer probably doesn't give away much about the game's actual content, as it aims to build excitement without revealing too many secrets and surprises.

After what feels like a lifetime of waiting, fans are just over a week away from the release of Marvel's Spider-Man 2, and excitement levels have reached an all-time high. A sequel that looks to improve on virtually every aspect of its predecessors, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is introducing a bigger New York City, dual protagonists, and some of the most iconic Spidey villains ever made with Kraven the Hunter and Venom. And that's just scratching the surface.

Though fans have been given several detailed gameplay breakdowns now, much of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is still being kept under wraps by Insomniac Games. So while fans might have a good idea of what to expect when it comes to Spider-Man 2's general gameplay loop, there are probably still a lot of surprises in store, and that same general outlook should be applied to Marvel's Spider-Man 2's most recent cinematic TV spot, a phenomenal trailer that fans shouldn't read into too much.

There'll Be More to Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Than Its Cinematic Trailer

Spider-Man 2 Cinematic TV Spot 2

All the way back in September 2018, just as Marvel's Spider-Man was about to hit store shelves, Insomniac and PlayStation released a cinematic trailer for the game titled "Be Greater." In just one minute, the Be Greater trailer manages to not only set up Marvel's Spider-Man's core cast of villains, but also set the tone for the entire game, and encapsulate the entire message and themes of the Spider-Man character, showing him being beaten down by multiple adversaries, only to pick himself right back up and fight back.

But of course, Spider-Man's cinematic Be Greater trailer didn't reveal everything that the game had in store. While the cinematic trailer showed Vulture, Electro, Rhino, Scorpion, Shocker, and Mr. Negative, it didn't even hint towards the appearance of Doc Ock in the game. Similarly, the construction site setting of the cinematic trailer only gets brief screen time in the finished product, and it isn't the site of the final climactic battle with any of Marvel's Spider-Man's villains. Though the Be Greater trailer did peel back the curtain and give fans a look at what was to come, it didn't really reveal anything new, and that's likely the case for Marvel's Spider-Man 2's own cinematic trailer.

Released just a week ago, "Be Greater. Together." is Marvel's Spider-Man 2's own take on that original cinematic TV spot. Coming in at just a minute once again, this cinematic Spider-Man 2 trailer sets up the game's tone and story perfectly, showing the two Spider-Men struggling with their own insecurities before joining forces to take on Venom together. Arguably, this trailer is just as good, if not even better than the first game's, with some stellar voice work, some truly brilliant cinematography and imagery, and music that swells perfectly in time with the action on-screen.

But while Marvel's Spider-Man 2's "Be Greater. Together." trailer is excellent, fans shouldn't spend too long over-analyzing every frame of it. Much like the first game's Be Greater trailer, Spider-Man 2's cinematic TV spot probably doesn't give too much away about the game's actual content. For instance, while Peter and Miles might fight Venom in the city streets at some point during the game, it likely isn't the location of the game's climactic final battle. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is sure to have plenty of secrets and surprises in store for fans, and none of those are likely to be properly teased in this cinematic trailer, though that doesn't stop it from being suitably amazing.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be released October 20 exclusively for PS5.
