The next Marvel’s Spider-Man game is shaping up to be eventful, as Insomniac Games has set up some exciting plot threads for its two heroes. The young Miles Morales has started a feud with Kingpin, an issue that will likely be brought into greater focus during the sequel. As for the original Spider-Man, Peter Parker is set to tangle with the Symbiote in the next game, with two post credits scenes hyping up the encounter. With The Lizard also teased, Peter will be busy fighting more than just Venom in his next adventure.

While the Marvel’s Spider-Man sequel clearly has a lot on its plate, Insomniac could still make its story more complex via the introduction of new Spider-People. While they do not need to swing onto the scene in the next game, someone like Cindy Moon or Jessica Drew can be set up in a similar way to Miles Morales. Seeing their origin stories can offer a slow build to a sequel, laying the groundwork for what comes next. More extreme Spider-Man variants could be teased via a post credits scene, too, setting up another Marvel’s Spider-Man entry where the Spider-Verse is explored.

Bringing The Spider-Women To Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Spider-Woman as seen in Marvel comics

With some wanting to see Spider-Woman get her own game, Insomniac could make those dreams a reality. It has already been shown via the Symbiote reveals that Oscorp has some major experiments kept under wraps, and one of these could be tied to Drew’s origin. In the comics, she is exposed to a lethal amount of Uranium, with a spider-blood injection and incubator used to save her life. Once she emerges from the chamber, she has superpowers like Peter’s, with the addition of Venom Blasts like Miles and a special pheromone ability. With the latter opening some intriguing story opportunities, and her origins able to be reworked into an Oscorp experiment, she would be a great to see in-game.

An equally strong choice would be Spider-Gwen, with the alternate version of Gwen Stacy becoming a fan favorite in recent years. Not only would her neon-filled universe be fun to explore, but fans love her costume and personality. With interesting villains to incorporate, like a version of Kingpin that is actually Matt Murdock, she could make a fun addition to the roster of wall-crawlers. Silk is another fine choice. Her backstory is simple, as it sees the same spider that bit Peter chomping his fellow student Cindy Moon. Hidden away for years, her powers are largely similar, though she does have organic webbing unlike Peter. While Spider-Gwen would need to be brought into Insomniac’s universe by some kind of portal, Silk joins Spider-Woman as a character that could easily be worked into the main universe.

A Spider-Man From The Past And A Spider-Man From The Future

Assuming that Insomniac does double down on the Spider-Verse one day, Spider-Man Noir is a must-have. While it would be hard to top the interactions between Peter Parker and his lost love Gwen Stacy, seeing Peter interact with a darker version of himself would be special, too. Not only does Spider-Man Noir boast a neat character design, but he has killed before, a topic that would likely come up when interacting with his better self. Seeing him debate with Peter about killing could be interesting, and the main version of Peter could inspire him to change.

Even more exciting than Spider-Man Noir is Spider-Man 2099, though. A big reason why fans love Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, this futuristic webslinger comes from Nueva York. Named Miguel O’Hara, he boasts his own personality along with some fun gadgets and an AI. His suit is also incredibly slick, with some Batman-like bladed gauntlets worn alongside a unique spider symbol. While he would need to time travel backwards, or Peter would need to time travel forward, their interactions in the comics and other games have been a lot of fun. As such, Insomniac should do whatever it takes to have that team-up happen one day. Just like Spider-Man Noir, 2099 is a great candidate for a post credits stinger, with Insomniac using him to further expand its Marvel’s Spider-Man universe.

Marvel’s Spider-Man is available now on PS4 and PS5.
