Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is set to improve on everything its predecessor established. New moves, stories, gadgets, and characters in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 have been teased before the game's release later this 2023. But what most fans don't think about is how all these elements mesh with one another.

While Peter Parker has garnered a lot of enemies during his tenure as Spider-Man, he also has come upon his fair share of friends to share his secrets with. Mary Jane already knew of his double life before the events of the first game, and he recently gained an apprentice and confidant in his fellow Spider-Man Miles Morales. Considering the number of allies Peter has, it wouldn't be impossible for some friendly cooperation to ensue in the style of Batman: Arkham Knight in Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Can Mix Both Multi-Takedowns And Dual Play

Multi-takedowns in Batman: Arkham Knight work in different ways. The Special Multi Ground Takedown, for instance, allows players to instantly take out all grounded foes in their vicinity during combat provided they have accrued enough charge in their combo meter. Another type of multi-takedown is the Fear Multi-Takedown, which can be executed from stealth and can eliminate up tp 6 enemies in rapid succession. Multi-takedowns provide ways to create some breathing room before and during a fight, alleviating some of the stress that comes with dispatching foes individually.

While multi-takedowns can be done as a single character, dual play focuses on team-related activities the Bat Family can perform. Depending on the context of the story, Batman can be joined by either Robin, Catwoman, or Nightwing and players can switch freely between the two. With this feature present, players can task their NPC companion to silently eliminate normal-sized foes in Predator mode or swap between them seamlessly to continue combos during combat. While these moves aren't focused on eliminating multiple foes at once, they do emphasize how Batman is part of a group.

Given the enemies Peter Parker has to face in Marvel's Spider-Man 2, he could use the help of his other superpowered allies. Black Cat has previously aided Spider-Man in thwarting Hammerhead's plans in The City That Never Sleeps DLC, but her involvement during gameplay was predominantly dictated by an AI. Giving players limited control over some of Spidey's friends would make them feel like they aren't alone.

Failing To Utilize Peter And Miles At The Same Time Would Be A Missed Opportunity

It has already been revealed that players will be able to switch between Peter Parker and Miles Morales in Marvel's Spider-Man 2. With a few button presses, players can travel great distances to control a Spider-Man on the other side of New York City. The gameplay reveal trailer showed that this feature works during story missions, but it can be assumed that players will be able to do this during the open-world segments as well, much like swapping between Franklin, Michael, and Trevor in Grand Theft Auto 5.

Though being able to control Peter and Miles at different times is nice, it would be even better if players were allowed to use both Spider-Men during combat as well. The two Spider-Men have been working together for some time now, and it would be a waste not to see the results of their collaborations. Allowing players to let Peter launch an enemy up in the air and Miles to Venom Blast them down to the ground is one of those moments that only a Spider-Man game with multiple wall-crawlers can provide. As an added bonus, the multi-takedown system established in the previous Marvel's Spider-Man games could help with the power fantasy. Marvel's Spider-Man already works off a combo system similar to the Batman: Arkham series, so it isn't that far-fetched for this melding of features to become reality. Since the tagline for this sequel calls for players to "be greater together", Peter and Miles have to work side by side to combat the new threats they face.
