Some heroes are unlocked all the way toward the end of the game while others are more immediate. If players are excited for him to show up in Marvel's Midnight Suns, prospective purchasers might justifiably wonder exactly how much screen time they'll get with Doctor Strange and how early he can be unlocked.

Unlocking Doctor Strange

  • Complete the tutorial.

Doctor Strange, right alongside Blade's unlocking mission, is the first teammate that The Hunter gets. Because the mission design is for a minimum of three characters, these three are available before the start of the first official mission. Select 'New Game' and he'll be ready before it's time to choose a mission from the Mirror Table.

As with the other superheroes, unlocking the sorcerer is something of an inevitability. However, while most of the other heroes can be tracked down by looking for a specific mission, Doctor Strange is available for selection right after the tutorial. Save the game after this first mission for a nice clean start in case the rest of the playthrough goes south.

Those who decide to skip the initial tutorial will have Doctor Strange available right off the bat. His deck can be edited immediately and he'll be available for any side missions players are looking to go on. In combat, he's got a healthy mix of damage and support abilities.

His hybrid specialization is likely the reason players get access to him so soon. Until players have selected a specific damage dealer, tank, and support, they'll need teammates that can help out on multiple fronts. Doctor Strange deals damage, moves opponents, and supports whoever the player decides to put on their primary squad.

Marvel's Midnight Suns is available now for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
