Unfortunately, there is a bit of a wall in Marvel's Midnight Suns that prevents the player from simply researching the best advancements. Gamers will need to raise their research level before they can proceed.
Raising Research Levels
- Get artifacts from mission rewards.
- Study the artifacts at the forge.
Hit up the Mirror Table and find a mission that yields an artifact. This particular style of mission requires the team to eliminate a heavily-armored guard, move to the artifact, use a card to take the artifact, and then finish off any remaining enemies. It's more demanding than a simple "kill the enemies" mission, but the rewards are substantial.
Artifacts are valuable on their own, even without the research component. If players are looking to upgrade their cards, they'll need the essence contained in each artifact to improve without sacrificing their hard-earned cards.
But the most important thing they do is raise the research meter. Each artifact does not increase the total by a full level every time, but it contributes to the meter. Eventually, the meter will fill up and players will get a new research level, permitting the research of even better abilities.
Gamers who are looking to get more cards can target missions that yield both Gamma Coils and artifacts. This will greatly accelerate the team's power level, giving them an edge in combat with a combination of cards and new research. For the game's toughest difficulties and challenges, these types of side quests should be the focus in between story missions.
