Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ playable roster is eclectic, and not quite representative of the cast fans understand to be in the Midnight Sons comic book run. This makes Firaxis and 2K’s iteration compelling and unique, especially with additions to the Marvel universe such as Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ customizable protagonist character. Equally intriguing is the game’s cast of antagonists, which includes Venom and Sabretooth, though there are likely more in the tactical RPG.

Besides its inclusion of Magik, Nico Minoru, and Robbie Reyes’ particular Ghost Rider, Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ playable characters will surely be familiar to fans who have kept up with the MCU. Many of these characters, such as Wanda Maximoff and Doctor Stephen Strange, make up the Marvel’s Midnight Suns roster, but one final playable character has yet to be revealed. This character is only unlocked upon completing Marvel’s Midnight Suns, but they may have been prematurely revealed today.

Scarlet Witch’s Gameplay Showcase Reveals a New Look for Hulk

Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ gameplay showcase featuring Scarlet Witch demonstrates the abilities that players will have access to if they decide to invest in her character. She has been described as a late-game character, likely due to the fact that Scarlet Witch becomes an antagonist once corrupted by Lilith. Her importance in the narrative appears considerable, and while players may not be able to play as her for some time, her abilities are incredibly powerful if strategically implemented. The gameplay showcase highlights a few AoE effects, as well as a self-sacrifice ability that is capable of dealing a ton of damage.

However, this gameplay showcase shares something seemingly unintended. If fans watch carefully at the 4:42 mark, during the cutscene animation of Scarlet Witch’s No More heroic card they will get a quick glimpse of Hulk in the bottom-left corner. Hulk is not a previously unannounced character, only being shown in a cinematic trailer debuting Spider-Man and Scarlet Witch. That said, fans previously knew Hulk as an antagonist character with horns protruding from his forehead and ribbed scales along his body.

This is the result of Hulk being corrupted by Lilith like Scarlet Witch, and their similarities may not end there if this glimpse of him is any indication of his role. Hulk’s appearance in Scarlet Witch’s gameplay showcase features a regular aesthetic without the aforementioned horns, and he is also wearing a black-and-gold Marvel’s Midnight Suns costume that resembles the ones each other playable character uses.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ Hulk May Be Its Final Playable Character

This seems to suggest that Hulk will be the final playable character revealed for Marvel’s Midnight Suns. It would not be surprising to see Hulk in an uncorrupted state at some point throughout the game, even if he remained an NPC that fans do not get to play as or add to their party. But because he is wearing a black-and-gold costume, it would certainly be confusing if he was only an NPC. Yet nothing about the final playable character has been confirmed, and there could be an explanation for Hulk’s appearance without him being added to the game’s actual roster.

If legitimate, Hulk being the final playable character may be an underwhelming choice as having to beat Marvel’s Midnight Suns first to unlock them is a great effort. In this case, fans may be expecting a character with more omnipotence that would be unfair to offer within the main narrative.

Hulk is powerful, but with characters such as Captain Marvel or Scarlet Witch being a part of the main campaign, Hulk may not amount to much anticipation depending on fans’ preconceived biases. Still, until official confirmation offers an explanation or announcement, Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ final playable character is still left to speculation, and fans will likely have to wait until they finish the game to find out who it is.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns is in development for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
