It was previously unclear how much content would be brought in alongside each new DLC character for Marvel’s Midnight Suns. The only information provided was that Deadpool, Venom, Morbius, and Storm would eventually be arriving in the game after launch, but it was not clarified if there would be anything to accommodate their arrival. Deadpool has run rampant on Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ social media lately and after teasing that fans would hear about him soon, his official release date is now January 26.

Deadpool’s release this week is highly anticipated by any fans of the character, as well as any fans who have already purchased the DLC through Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ Legendary edition. Indeed, Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ Season Pass DLC always came with the caveat that players would not be able to experience all that exclusive content until long after launch, but the wait is nearly over for the first DLC content to be released. It is still largely unclear exactly what additions are being made with his arrival and how elaborate they may be, but Deadpool having story-related missions is fantastic news in the meantime.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ DLC Characters Can Breathe New Life Into It

Marvel’s Midnight Suns has little in the way of content following the completion of its narrative. This is hardly a bad thing, especially when the game’s narrative campaign content is already fulfilling and satisfying. Players can fully explore the Abbey grounds and develop their friendships with characters in that time, though, and it may be more narratively satisfying to do so since players learn about Agatha Harkness and other Marvel lore around the Abbey grounds that is important for world-building.

Enough time has passed since Marvel’s Midnight Suns first launched that fans have probably completed what they wanted to and moved onto other games, but the Season Pass DLC is a fantastic incentive to return this month. These incremental DLCs could have been disappointing if Deadpool was released into the game without any new content to look forward to besides his cards; thankfully that will not be the case.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ DLC Could All Come with Story Content

Deadpool’s Abbey upgrade parks a chimichanga truck on the grounds, but more importantly, if Deadpool comes with narrative content it would only make sense to assume that Venom, Morbius, and Storm will too. Likewise, it is less likely that this story content will come with extravagant villains from the Marvel universe. Story missions will nonetheless be exciting since that means new cutscene content with voice talent and animations for each DLC character. This will be a great way for Marvel’s Midnight Suns to break up the post-narrative monotony of general resource missions and give players substance to return to. Deadpool’s character is hysterical and fourth-wall-breaking, especially considering how he seems to always be talking to the player during cutscenes.

Moreover, it will be exciting to see what the in-game world of Marvel’s Midnight Suns is like following the events of the narrative. The Hunter and Lilith were supposedly swept up into the Darkhold, which is now in Doctor Doom’s possession. If the Hunter is with Deadpool in this narrative DLC, it seems to imply that these story missions will take place before the game’s ending. That could disrupt the player’s immersion, particularly if they had finished the narrative campaign long ago at this point, but only time will tell how developer Firaxis Games plans to tackle that.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns is available now for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, with PS4, Switch, and Xbox One versions coming later.
