With these parts stored in Star-Lord's inventory, gamers will be able to acquire perks from various workbenches found throughout their adventure, with one residing on the Milano. There are 15 perks that players can acquire, but some of them are arguably better than others, so players should make sure to get the better ones first.

10 Rapid Reload

Rapid Reload is the very first perk that players will acquire in Guardians of the Galaxy. That is because the game will force players to purchase the perk whenever they unlock the workbench as a sort of tutorial for the workbench mechanics.

But, Rapid Reload is still one of the best perks in the game. With Rapid Reload, players will be able to consistently shoot until Peter Quill's Elemental Guns overheat. Then, a quick skill check will appear, and players can press the 'shoot' button in perfect timing to negate the overheating mechanic.

9 Knockdown Dash

As gamers will find out in Guardians of the Galaxy, Star-Lord is pretty vulnerable to all enemies in the game. When confronted with heavy attacks or large enemies, Star-Lord can easily be knocked down prone, which will force players to wait a few seconds before being able to run away or fight back.

With the Knockdown Dash perk, players will be able to press the 'dash/dodge' button whenever they are hit with a devastating attack that would leave Quill prone, and Quill will instead immediately get up for any follow-up actions. This can be a big help in crowded situations.

8 Super Quill Punch

Melee combat with Star-Lord is a lot of fun for players to rush into, though it isn't always the most feasible course of action. Star-Lord melee finishers and combos are flashy, so players tend to jump into combat with several punches and kicks occasionally.

Super Quill Punch is a wonderful perk that grants a bonus to Peter Quill's melee combat. When dashing toward an enemy, players can use a melee attack to perform the Super Quill Punch. If defeated by the move, enemies will drop bonus health for Quill.

7 Perfect Dodge

the perfect dodge perk on the perks screen

Dodging in Guardians of the Galaxy is fairly uncommon, and sometimes difficult, to perform with Star-Lord's powerful rocket boots. Sometimes it is just easier to have Drax surprise an attacking enemy with a great ability rather than dodging out of the way, but this perk will add an incentive to dodge more frequently.

The Perfect Dodge perk will allow for Star-Lord to slow time for a brief time when dodging an enemy attack at the last second. This can open up many follow-up moves for players to utilize.

6 Air Glide

Using Star-Lord's rocket boots is a lot of fun in the midst of combat. For those players that want a little more usage out of Star-Lord's rocket boots, they can acquire the Air Glide perk with Rocket's workbench. Air Glide will allow players to slowly glide down when shooting at enemies.

To perform this, players simply need to jump, or drop off a platform, and start shooting at enemies below them. This will make Star-Lord slowly glide downwards, giving players an advantage from above for a small amount of time.

5 Low Life Buff

The Low Life Buff perk is essential for players to have when starting to journey through Guardians of the Galaxy's late-game scenarios. With the right amount of Basic and Advanced Components, Rocket will build Quill the Low Life Buff perk.

With this perk purchased, Star-Lord will have his fire rate doubled when his health drops below 25%. In many situations throughout Guardians of the Galaxy, players will have to deal with a large crowd of enemies, and Low Life Buff can easily clutch up these confrontations.

4 Extra Health

the extra health perk on the perks screen

The health and shield system may seem a little peculiar at first in Guardians of the Galaxy, but it starts to make more sense over time. The green part of Peter's health and shield bar represents his actual life, meaning that if that bar depletes, it is game over for Star-Lord.

With the Extra Health perk, players will be able to survive through a larger multitude of attacks and mistakes. Once the Extra Life perk has been purchased at one of Rocket's workbenches, Quill's health will be increased by 25%.

3 Consumables Magnet

There are plenty of combat perks in Guardians of the Galaxy, but players shouldn't look over passive-ability perks that they can acquire. These types of perks can be the most important. One such perk is Consumables Magnet.

Consumables Magnet is a great perk that players can use, and when equipped, will allow for Quill's Elemental Guns to attract enemy drops from up to 15 meters away. This is a great way to assure Quill's survivability, as health drops from enemies will be picked up from further away.

2 Extra Shield

the extra shield perk on the perks screen

Just like the Extra Health perk, the Extra Shield perk will help keep Star-Lord alive for longer. Rather than increasing Star-Lord's health though, the Extra Shield will increase Star-Lord's shield bar, which is represented as the blue bar displayed over the green bar.

When the perk has been acquired with Components, Extra Shield will increase Quill's shield bar by a great 50%. With both Extra Shield and Extra Health combined, Star-Lord can take much more damage before being 'rag-dolled' into a restart.

1 Charged Shot

the charged shot perk on the perks screen

One of the best combat-related perks in Guardians of the Galaxy is the Charged Shot. The Charged Shot perk can be acquired with Rocket at any of his workbenches for Components. When the perk has been obtained, Charged Shot will allow players to double-tap the 'shoot' button and then hold the button.

This will have Star-Lord's Elemental Guns charge a shot, showcased by a glowing orb of energy on his weapon. Once it has been charged, players can release a blast of energy at a single enemy, which will deal a great amount of damage.

Guardians of the Galaxy is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
