There are a few different choices that can affect the ending of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, but none of them will change the main plot. However, the path to the conclusion can vary from playthrough to playthrough, depending on a few key decisions made during important story moments.

Most Important Choices That Change The Ending In Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy

Convincing The Worldmind to Help

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy chapter 6 nova supercomputer in new xandar

During Chapter 9 of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, the team travels to New Xandar in order to speak to The Worldmind. The Nova supercomputer can’t be convinced into helping their cause right now, but if the correct dialogue options are selected, it will come to the Guardians’ aid during a big combat sequence before the final confrontation with Raker.

The Worldmind in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy will completely wipe out a large group of high-powered enemies if it has been convinced to help. This makes the end of the game easier, and brings the team to the boss a lot quicker.

Additionally, The supercomputer will appear during the “hero strut” at the end of Chapter 15 if it helps. If it hasn’t been convinced to offer assistance, players will have to fight past that room of high-leveled enemies, and The Worldmind will be replaced with some confused strangers on the end walk instead.

Helping Cosmo Break Free From The Promise

On the second trip to Knowhere, players will come across a confused Cosmo in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. He wants to stay in his fantasy of Earth, but it’s up to the Guardians to convince him that it’s fake.

If players can successfully help Cosmo realize that The Promise created by The Universal Church of Truth in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy isn’t as important as his real life, he will provide combat assistance during Chapter 15 as well. This clears yet another area of high-leveled enemies for the team, making the path to the end boss even easier. Cosmo and his puppies will appear during the “hero strut” and speak to the team.

Not helping Cosmo means players will have to take on a walkway full of enemies on their own, and talk to strangers instead of the dog and his puppies during the strut. Both options will still mention Cosmo in the epilogue.

Letting Gamora Fight Raker Alone

While exploring Hala’s Hope to help Cosmo in Chapter 7, the team notices Raker (the main villain in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy) and The Matriarch on their escape from the Nova Ship. Gamora calls out to let her chase Raker alone. If players respect her decision and don’t follow her, Gamora will take one of his arms, weakening him in future encounters. This includes the big fight near the end of the game.

If Star-Lord does follow Gamora in her pursuit of Grand Unifier Raker in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, she has to save him from a fall instead and will miss her opportunity to injure Raker. This makes him tougher in combat.

Paying the Nova Fine

If players choose to pay the fine, they will unlock an Achievement/Trophy in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, but nothing else comes of it. However, if they decide to ignore the fine, the very end scene of the action-adventure title is changed to show the Nova device deactivating the Milano, leaving it floating in space.

This also gets a mention in the upcoming epilogue, where it says that Nova Corps let the Guardians have access to their ship again because of the good they did, but that the team still owed a significant late fee.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is out now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
