  • Arkane Lyon is developing Marvel's Blade, a third-person action game set in Paris.
  • The details about the release window, platforms, and specific version of Blade are still unknown.
  • Blade's potential arsenal includes his signature sword, throwing glaive, machine pistols, mahogany stakes, and UV grenades.

One of the most exciting reveals to come out of the 2023 Game Awards, Arkane Lyon is developing Marvel's Blade. Though it debuted alongside a trailer, not much has really been revealed about Marvel's Blade just yet aside from its Paris setting, and the confirmation that it'll be a third-person action game. There's been no official release window given, no extra details about this version of Blade himself, and right now, fans aren't even sure what platforms Marvel's Blade is coming to.

Another big mystery of Marvel's Blade is the hero's potential arsenal. Right at the end of Marvel's Blade reveal trailer, fans can spot a few of the hero's gadgets and weapons, including his trusty sword, a revolver, some grenades, and what looks to be a set of ornate stakes. But while that's a great start, Blade is a character who's always over-equipped in the comics, and there are a handful of trademark vampire-slaying weapons that he still needs in Marvel's Blade.

Every Feature Confirmed About Arkane's Blade Game So Far

Marvel's Blade, officially revealed at The Game Awards this year, has the potential to be a promising superhero game from Arkane Studios.

Blade's Acid-Etched Sword

You can't have Blade without his signature sword, and Marvel's Blade seems to have understood the assignment perfectly. While fans only get an extremely brief glimpse of it during the reveal trailer, it seems likely that Blade's sword will be his main weapon of choice in Arkane's third-person action game, though it's still unclear just which version of the sword it is going to be. Blade had many different swords over the years, from kitanas to rapiers to longswords and a good few in between. But the vast majority of these swords are made from titanium, with an acid-etching on the blade, something that fans will probably expect to be mentioned at least once in Marvel's Blade.

Blade's Throwable Glaive

Blade Glaive

Another iconic Blade weapon is his throwing Glaive, a boomerang-like weapon that usually takes the form of two arched blades that meet in the middle. A Glaive isn't always associated with the character of Blade, though some of his most iconic appearances see him wielding, such as in the Wesley Snipes-led Blade movies, and the recent Marvel's Midnight Suns strategy game.

Blade's Trusty Machine Pistols

Blade Machine Pistol

Almost every iteration of Blade over the last five decades has wielded some kind of ranged weapon. More often than not, these ranged weapons tend to be automatic machine pistols, usually modeled after the MAC-10 or Uzi guns. While Marvel's Blade's trailer seems to show the hero wielding a revolver, it might be more in-keeping with the character's history if players get to wield some machine pistols later on in the game, or at least upgrade their revolver to the point where it becomes automatic.

Blade's Mahogany Stakes

Marvel's Blade Stakes

A staple of any vampire hunter, a set of wooden stakes is on Blade's person at all times. Designed to deliver the final blow to a vampire, it would sense for stakes to be reserved for some kind of finishing move in Marvel's Blade, maybe limiting the player to having just a handful at any one time and encouraging some strategy from the player on when they should use them in battle.

Blade's UV Grenades

Blade 2 UV Grenade

By far one of Blade's coolest weapons from the lore, Marvel's Blade should give players some UV grenades. Functioning exactly like anyone would expect, Blade's UV grenades emit an incredibly bright UV light that turns vampires to ash instantly. Obviously, Marvel's Blade would have to limit the number of UV grenades the player can carry at one time, but they should still be given as a way to take down big hordes of vampires at once.
