Marvel’s Avengers players have a good idea of who the next few heroes will be, as both Winter Soldier and She-Hulk seem to be lined up for the game. Recently, one Marvel’s Avengers fan who seems particularly excited for Winter Soldier shared a neat mockup depicting Bucky’s possible abilities.
It is worth mentioning that Bucky is not officially confirmed for Marvel’s Avengers, though all signs seem to be pointing to his imminent debut. Not only have reputable leakers said that he is coming next, but Crystal Dynamics has said that the next character being added to the game will not be an echo fighter. Though She-Hulk will likely be coming to the game soon, she will surely fit that description, so it makes sense for someone else to come next. With dialogue for Bucky datamined months ago, too, Crystal Dynamics has clearly been working on him for some time.
While Bucky Barnes will likely be coming to Marvel’s Avengers some time in the next few weeks, fans have no idea how he will play. Beyond some heavy punches with his metal arm, his move set is a mystery, as it is hard to think about how Crystal Dynamics will make him stand out. Fortunately, Reddit user IIII-APEX-IIII has come up with their own ability set for the hero. They also included images showing how some of the abilities could look in-game, with their HUD mockup being extremely solid.
If IIII-APEX-IIII’s Winter Soldier design made it into the game, his Intrinsic ability would be a shield and his Ultimate would be a flamethrower. His Assault Heroic would provide a variety of throwing weapons like frag grenades and throwing knives, while his Support Heroic would see him using stun or smoke grenades. The Redditor also details the melee attacks they would like to see, suggesting that a combat knife and guns be worked into his combos. The Redditor even suggests a night vision mode, which can be seen in the mockups.
The main mockup shows a look at a potential HUD for Winter Soldier, and IIII-APEX-IIII makes a solid suggestion for the hero’s weapons. The player designs the weapon bar to look exactly like the one for Black Widow, which makes sense from a mechanical perspective since Bucky will likely play the most like Natasha. According to this player, Bucky should have a Sniper Rifle, and Assault Rifle, and a Pistol. With the first two weapons not used by Black Widow, Winter Soldier would likely feel unique.
Overall, the concept has been received well by the game’s community, with many hoping that the official version of Bucky will have similar abilities. While Marvel’s Avengers’ summer skins served as a fun addition, many are ready for a significant content drop like Winter Soldier.
