Marvel’s Avengers players have seen plenty of content announced for this summer, though they can now rest assured that something exciting will be coming in the spring as well. The first proper Marvel’s Avengers event, the Red Room Takeover will see a revamp of the game’s HARM missions.

While players will be waiting a bit longer to enjoy the Cosmic Cube Villain Sector and Patrol Mode, they can expect the Red Room Takeover to begin sooner. Likely serving as a tie-in event with the MCU’s Black Widow movie, this is a solid way to hype up the film’s release and give players from fresh content. Crystal Dynamics has hyped up the event via a post on the official Marvel’s Avengers Twitter account, giving players insight into what exactly the event will entail.

In the post, a gif can be seen that depicts Black Widow looking for someone as she walks down the hallway. That someone is likely Yelena Belova, another popular Black Widow from Marvel Comics. While fans will soon be meeting Yelena in live action for the first time, she will also be seen in the game, as the post confirms that she is behind the change to the HARM Room. Why exactly she hacked the training area is unclear, though players will hopefully get some answers throughout the event.

How these special HARM rooms will differ is also not specified, though it seems likely that some kind of change will be made beyond just adding a red backdrop. Increased difficulty, new enemy types, or even a boss fight with Yelena Belova herself all seem like possible ways the Red Room missions can stand out from the basic HARM levels. However, even more exciting than the HARM rooms themselves are the rewards players can obtain.

After several months of requests, MCU-themed outfits will finally make their debut via this Marvel’s Avengers event. While Crystal Dynamics has not yet specified if the skins will see the heroes taking on the appearance of the actors who play them in the films, this announcement is a big win for fans. There is no shortage of MCU costumes that can be added to the game, though fans can likely expect the new white suit from the Black Widow movie to show up in some way. After all, with the film and the Red Room Takeover releasing around the same time, seeing it appear seems like a no-brainer.

Aside from these heavily requested cosmetics being added, the event will also bring animated calling cards to the game for the first time. While this is a small addition, it is a positive one, as it gives fans one more objective to grind for.

Marvel’s Avengers is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
