Marvel’s Avengers fans are currently going through another content drought, as a lot of time has gone by since the War for Wakanda expansion released. While a recent state of the game update confirmed that the mission select system was being reworked and that Nick Fury was returning to his position as Director of SHIELD, fans are still waiting on Marvel’s Avengers’ next roadmap to be unveiled.

As fans wait for Marvel’s Avengers to officially confirm leaked additions like She-Hulk, the only steady supply of fresh content has been cosmetics. Recently, Crystal Dynamics has gone all-in on MCU outfits, and given how well they sell, this makes sense. However, while many do love these skins, some are a bit frustrated that there are classic comic book looks that have not yet been adapted.

Marvel’s Avengers’ MCU Skins Are Too Much of a Good Thing

Marvel’s Avengers fans like Reddit user Downtown_Salad_1003 have recently made posts discussing the need for more comic-accurate skins. In this post, the fan pushed for the Extremis Iron Man suit, which is one of the character’s most iconic looks. Another potential costume was mentioned for Tony Stark, with the player wanting to use Model 51 Iron Man, and Ultimate Thor was another request made.

Alongside this post getting a few hundred upvotes, commenters like Soggy-World-6817 added some more comic costumes to the list of requests. Others, like marcFrey, suggested adding more unique skins. The player praised the Wakandan Iron Man skin that was added alongside Marvel’s Avengers’ Shipment system, as the unique black and gold outfit is an excellent original design. As such, some more thought-out skins designed by Crystal Dynamics would seemingly be a hit with the game’s fan base as well.

This is an interesting shift, as for the first several months of Marvel’s Avengers’ life cycle, players demanded MCU suits more than anything else. Crystal Dynamics has delivered and then some, introducing several MCU suits for every hero. From Black Widow’s snow suit to Thor’s gladiator armor from Thor: Ragnarok, the developer has added all of the best MCU costumes to the game. However, while it is great to have access to all these requested costumes, it seems like many are bothered that they have become the entire focus as of late.

Clearly, players want to see a balance between fresh MCU costumes, comic outfits like Superior Iron Man, and original designs made by Crystal Dynamics. While the developer has added some well-known comic suits to the game, there has definitely been some favoritism for MCU suits in recent months. Though Marvel's Avengers should absolutely continue to get cosmetics based on the highly successful Marvel films, it is important to keep the source material in mind as well. With decades’ worth of comics to pull from, there are plenty of neat looks that could still appear in the marketplace.

Marvel’s Avengers is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
