With Marvel's Avengers losing its playerbase rapidly since release, Crystal Dynamics has been working on a slate of new content designed to bring fans back into the fold. With new events, high-level missions, and characters set to make their way to the game in the coming months, the goal appears to be to beef up Avengers into a AAA experience worthy of its iconic comic book source material.

As many will know, the first step on this roadmap is the release of the game's long-teased Kate Bishop expansion, which is slated to bring the bow and arrow wielding superhero to the game as a playable character with her own set of story missions. As of today, the hero has officially become a part of Marvel's Avengers roster, with the game's Twitter account confirming that the long-awaited DLC is finally available to download.

As those who have been following Marvel's Avengers plans for additional content will no doubt know, the Kate Bishop DLC will focus on a new tale set in the game's universe. The story itself centers around the archer teaming up with the Avengers to track down her former mentor Hawkeye, with the superhero squad having to jump back in time in an effort to find him. The trailer alone promises that it will feature tons of action and some fun new story beats that build on the base game's campaign, with the footage name dropping the new big bad set up during Marvel's Avengers after-credit sequence.

For many, the big selling point of the new campaign will be Kate Bishop herself, with the character set to have a wide array of archer-based moves. Not only can she unleash devastating ranged attacks on enemies, but she also wields a katana, which she can use to slice robots apart. According to the tweet announcing the release of the DLC, the pack will also contain new cosmetics, so players can equip Bishop and the rest of the team with some fresh gear. Of course, it's also worth noting that the DLC is entirely free to those who currently own Marvel's Avengers.

It seems Crystal Dynamics pledge to continue adding content to the game won't end here, with Hawkeye and Spider-Man confirmed to be coming to the game. Black Panther has also been teased too, with his outfit and voice actor allegedly leaking online very recently. With the game reportedly bringing in concerningly low numbers in terms of concurrent players, DLC appears to be Marvel's Avengers plan to help win back its dwindling fans.

Marvel's Avengers is out now on PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
