Marvel's Avengers, for all of its good qualities, is a game that is unfortunately severely hampered by numerous issues. Repetitive missions and the live-service aspects are among the first things people think of, but a lot of unlucky players are also forced to suffer major technical issues, which can actively ruin one's progress.

Developer Crystal Dynamics will be attempting to address and fix these issues in future updates. In fact, it has already laid out the plans via Reddit for the next two major patches coming to Avengers, with the first of them hopefully arriving in the next several days, at least for the console versions.

The first patch is set to get rid of the particularly infamous bugs, such as the infinite loading screen one, which is pretty self-explanatory. Meanwhile, some players have even found themselves falling out of world when trying to access the Avengers Initiative thanks to the Helicarrier only partially loading. However, Crystal Dynamics notes that this issue won't be completely resolved with the first patch and that it is still working on finding away to remove this bug completely.

Another bug that's been aggravating players is one involving the unlockable skins. Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix really pushed skins in the run-up to release, due to them allowing players to personally customize their characters and with many of them being based on previous costumes from the comics. However, many players soon noticed that they would lose access to their skins despite unlocking them, whether it be via the campaign, the marketplace, or the challenge cards.

The next patch will fix this for skins unlocked from the marketplace and challenge cards and restore them for players, it won't quite do the same for campaign skins. The patch will prevent the bug from happening again, but players who have already encountered it will not have their skins re-unlocked. Instead, they will have to wait for the second patch, which currently doesn't have an estimated release date.

Speaking of that second patch, Crystal Dynamics hasn't gone into any detail about what it will address, simply saying that it will be the biggest patch yet and fix hundreds of smaller, quality of life issues.

While this is good news, responses from players shows that there are still a myriad of other problems that will need to be addressed, particularly ones for PC players, which Crystal Dynamics didn't address at all in its post.

It's quite evident that Avengers hasn't quite been the superstar success Square Enix was hoping it would be. Though it's not without its fans, it has quickly become a source of mockery for things like the character designs and the Spider-Man controversy.

It's still a sales success, though, managing to become the best-selling physical game in the UK during its launch week. However, it has been noted that it has sold less than a third of what 2018's Spider-Man game for PlayStation 4 managed to achieve in its opening week.

Marvel's Avengers is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia, and Xbox One. It will also release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
