It's been a busy few weeks for the Marvel's Avengers team at Crystal Dynamics following on the heels of its latest reveal stream called the War Table. Late last month, fans got an in depth look at the game, characters, and modes that will be available at launch. In addition to information on story missions and cooperative War Zones, players also learned a bit more about the villainous group A.I.M. and its overarching role in the game's narrative.

Central to this plot is Kamela 'Ms. Marvel' Khan, a character that has been revealed previously and appears to be a major character in reassembling the former heroes after the disaster of A-Day. Created in the aftermath of the helicarrier explosion, A.I.M. is secretly trying to eliminate the Inhuman threat, which Kamala is also apart of. As seen in the story trailer, A.I.M. captures her and attempts to get her to agree to let them help her. She instead brings captured footage of the disaster to Bruce Banner, revealing the truth behind that day.

To highlight this critical moment in the story, the official Marvel's Avengers Twitter account revealed new concept art of the hero staring up at a massive digital A.I.M. logo from the city rooftops. According to the description, Kamala senses something isn't right about the intentions driving A.I.M. to protect the world using science. She then embarks on a difficult quest to bring the former superheroes, now outlawed, back together to stop the corrupt corporation.

As fans know, Advanced Idea Mechanics isn't as pure hearted as it makes itself out to be. Previous trailers have shown off George Tarleton, a former scientist now turned into the Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing, or M.O.D.O.K. In addition to bringing the heroes back together, players will also be rebuilding a home base attracting more heroes, survivors, Inhumans, and other friendly characters.

New gameplay mechanics have also been discussed in the weeks following the War Table stream. Team Finishers, a move which can be performed by multiple characters on a stunned enemy has been shown off in greater detail as well as the fact that the game will have free roam areas for flying and exploration. Fan concerns over the frame rate issues shown during the last event have also been addressed, with Philippe Therien reassuring fans that what they saw was from a streamed video and the team is continuing to optimize the game.

Marvel's Avengers releases on September 4 for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One. PS5 and Xbox Series X versions are also in development.
