The first DLC Expansion for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order has been announced on Nintendo's Twitter account. Based on the superhero team known as the Marvel Knights, the new DLC for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 includes four brand new playable heroes as well as new co-op mode called Gauntlet.

The expansion is called Marvel Knights: The Curse of the Vampire, and introduces Blade, Moon Knight, the Punisher, and Morbius the Living Vampire. Arriving one month after the free X-Men character update, Marvel Knights releases on September 30 as part of the game's Expansion Pass which is currently available for $19.99 through the Nintendo eShop.

While the new heroes might be the main selling point for the expansions, Marvel Knights will also introduce two brand new modes called Gauntlet and Endurance. Gauntlet Mode can be played by up to four players and features an intense series of co-op challenges that are played in rapid succession to unlock new rewards. Endurance Mode doesn't have much of a description, only that players are challenged to see how long they can last with online leaderboards and a mysterious new Infinity Rift.

Marvel Knights is the first of three expansions coming to Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3. While no name or release window has been confirmed for the remaining two expansions, Nintendo and Team Ninja have confirmed that they will feature content from X-Men and the Fantastic Four. Each expansion will only be available in the Expansion Pass, with no plans to sell them separately.

Nintendo has confirmed that each expansion will introduce a variety of content including new characters, modes, and new story content and so far it appears like it's going to deliver. As long as Team Ninja's focus for the DLC is on replayability and creating fun and unique new characters, then Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3's expansion pass will be worth the additional cost.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 has a vast line-up of characters to choose from with more on the way in each of the three expansions. However, considering that Nintendo has already confirmed the types of characters that can be expected, here are 10 characters we'd love to see in a potential sequel.
