Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is proving to be one of the biggest PlayStation 5 releases this year. The glimpse of this game that players received during the PlayStation Showcase made it clear that the title was aiming for bigger and better things. The idea of switching between Peter and Miles on the fly sounds like a great time, and fans can't wait to see how this game delivers after being hyped through the roof.

While Kraven the Hunter and Lizard are touted as the two main antagonists that the Spider-Men duo have to face off against, it's clear that Venom is going to play a major role later on in the story too. The brief gameplay of the Black-Suit Spider-Man that players got to see was quite engaging, and fans can only hope that some of this Symbiote Suit's strongest abilities make their way into Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

6 Regeneration

Marvels Spider-Man 2 Symbiote Suit

The Symbiote Suit has sometimes drained the user's life force, with Peter losing his strength whenever he used too much of the organic webbing that this alien lifeform gave him. However, this wouldn't really be a fun game mechanic in the slightest, since most people would just outright ignore their webs and use regular attacks instead.

In fact, the very idea of the suit sapping away at Peter's health could be detrimental to the power fantasy that players may expect from harnessing the powers of the Symbiote. So, the game is better off leaning towards the more positive powers of the Black Suit, namely coming in the form of regeneration. The alien parasite has been documented to heal its host whenever they are injured, and adding this mechanic to Peter's gameplay may help players focus on finishers and other unique moves instead of wasting their Focus on a quick heal instead.

5 Monstrous Strength

Symbiote Suit Peter

The Symbiote Suit enhances Peter Parker's strength to a monstrous degree, allowing him to pick up items that weigh almost 200 tons! Suffice it to say, fans would expect the game to let them use his enhanced physical prowess to great effect, and Insomniac should make sure to convey to the player just how strong the Black Suit is.

A great game that conveys the strength of the Symbiote-fuelled Peter Parker brilliantly is Spider-Man: Web of Shadows. While the title has its fair share of problems, there's no denying that the Black Suit is a treat to use, allowing players to smash enemies into smithereens and chuck massive cars at their enemies like nothing.

4 Enhanced Agility

Spider-Man is already a fast superhero, with his swift movements and great reflexes allowing him to dodge many attacks without too many problems. However, the Black Suit is known to enhance his speed to even greater levels, and experiencing this first-hand in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 would be a treat for the ages.

This can be harder for Insomniac to program into the game, given how much control players have over Spider-Man at optimal speeds while they're swinging through New York City and saving its residents time and time again. Of course, this could always work in the studio's favor, with the Symbiote Suit being so overwhelming to behold that Spidey ends up looking wild and unhinged (as he should be) while swinging through the Big Apple.

3 Organic, Stronger Webbing (That Could Be Black)

Spider-Man 2 Symbiote Suit Tendrils

A rather cool thing that Symbiote Spider-Man is known for is generating organic webbing, negating the need to hoard any spider capsules. This means that Peter can comfortably swing through the city and fight enemies using his webs without ever worrying about running out. The sheer number of gameplay opportunities this opens up is immense.

In fact, not only is this organic webbing near-infinite in nature, but it's also stronger! This means that Peter can ideally decimate enemies using this black webbing, and players got to see a taste of that during the gameplay reveal when he used his black tendrils to slam multiple enemies into oblivion. However, that attack looked like it was using Symbiote tendrils as opposed to proper webbing, so whether this feature will be available in the game is anyone's guess.

2 Amplified Spider-Sense

Spider Man 2 Black Suit Peter

Many people may think that a stronger Spider-Sense doesn't really count as a strong power per se, but many loyal fans of the lovable web-crawler would beg to differ. After all, this awareness is what helps Spider-Man avoid powerful attacks and dodge in time over and over again.

With Insomniac using a counter system that relies on this Spider-Sense, it's possible that the Black Suit could get more damaging or multi-hit counters that allow Peter to attack multiple enemies at the same time. Of course, this sounds too good to be true...or does it?

1 Shapeshifting & Camouflage

Spider-Man's Symbiote Suit

Given that Miles can already turn invisible, this power may be the least likely to be depicted in Marvel's Spider-Man 2...but that doesn't mean that it can't be implemented in an interesting manner regardless. While Miles can turn invisible, Peter's Black Suit can take on the appearance of different clothes or even imitate other people outright!

This can lead to unique gameplay scenarios as players take out a guard and replace him, helping stealth feel all the more dynamic and engaging in this title. However, integrating this element can be challenging for a studio that struggled with stealth combat in the first game anyway.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launches in Fall 2023 on PlayStation 5.
