Marvel Snap's upcoming season is set to evolve the game in a way it has never seen before. Titled Guardians Greatest Hits, the Season Pass is set to feature variants for the Guardians of the Galaxy's Gamora and Starlord along with the brand new Season Pass Card Nebula. While these new additions are great, it's the inclusion of the new High Evolutionary card that has many fans excited as his ability introduces a new gameplay mechanic that could make some of the most underutilized cards in Marvel Snap the new meta.

Along with Nebula, the new seasonal variants, and High Evolutionary, the Marvel Snap Developer Update outlining the Guardians Greatest Hits season also revealed the additions of Iron Lad, Howard the Duck, and The Living Tribunal as new cards coming next month. However, High Evolutionary is the stand-out among this crowd thanks to his ability to unlock the hidden abilities of cards who previously had none. This means not only are there 5 brand-new cards being added this season, but a total of 7 other cards will have totally new abilities with High Evolutionary in a player's deck, signaling a potentially massive swing in the meta.

High Evolutionary's Ability Could Give Several Underused Cards a New Lease on Life

As a 4-Cost/7-Power card, High Evolutionary is a powerful contender on his own, but what makes him even more interesting is his ability to unlock the hidden abilities of 7 cards that normally have none at the start of a match when he is in the player's deck. These cards include Wasp, Misty Knight, Shocker, Cyclops, The Thing, Abomination, and The Hulk, each getting a unique ability that have the potential to synergize well with one another. While these cards were previously only really present in Patriot decks thanks his ability to power-up cards without abilities, the addition of High Evolutionary will make it more difficult for opponents to predict which strategy a deck of these cards is running.

The new abilities of these cards tend to revolve around either granting friendly cards additional Power or inflicting Power-reducing effects on opposing cards. Wasp, Cyclops, The Thing, and Abomination all have abilities that reduce the Power of opposing cards, making them great for combining with each other as well as cards like Hazmat and Debrii to turn an opponent's field into weakened junk. Conversely, Misty Knight and The Hulk grant friendly cards more Power when a player has unspent energy, making them perfect to pair with cards like Sunspot and She-Hulk.

Shocker is the odd one out here since his new ability doesn't fall into either Power boosting or reducing category, but instead gives the leftmost card in a player's hand -1 Cost. This ability makes him well suited to synergize with Sera and Zabu decks to help bring down the Cost of certain cards. The best part about High Evolutionary is that he unlocks the abilities of these cards simply by being in the deck, making it difficult for opponents to prepare for and counter his ability.

Packing a deck full of each of these cards is also a viable strategy as they can synergize together to boost a player's cards while simultaneously throwing a wrench in an opponent's strategy. Including cards like Lockjaw, Spider-Woman, and Scorpion in this deck can further decimate an opponent's field and allow these evolved cards to shine even brighter. With Marvel Snap's current meta surrounding the presence of Galactus beginning to stagnate, High Evolutionary's addition couldn't have come at a better time as it will surely add a new twist that the game desperately needs.
