Marvel Snap just got even bigger with the addition of Silver Surfer. The growth comes by way of a new update, along with the promise that other characters and features are also on their way to Marvel Snap.
Publisher Nuverse bills Marvel Snap as "the fastest card battler in the Multiverse!" Developed by Second Dinner, the turn-based strategy title hasn't yet been available for two full months but already features a host of characters drawn from Marvel worlds. Shortly after its release, Marvel Snap is already a viral mobile hit.
While revealing Silver Surfer on Twitter, Nuverse noted that the newly released card pairs well with the Collector and Infinaut cards, but stopped short of detailing what else the current event holds in store beyond additional locations and unspecified character cards. Even just the one addition may be enough to throw a wrench in the works for those who thought they already had their Marvel Snap Infinaut deck strategies set, however.
As with mobile gaming peers such as the enduring Marvel Strike Force, Marvel Snap benefits from regular updates that periodically redefine how the game is played to add fresh excitement and another reason for fans to spend money. Sometimes, the steady stream of new content leads to an initial lack of balance, as when Marvel Snap fell victim to an overpowered Black Panther.
Besides the expanding roster lineups, Nuverse has also announced it is adding PvP to Marvel Snap by the end of the year. Recently, the game's Warriors of Wakanda event ended, which saw the addition of Black Panther, Okoye, and Nakia, along with locations to match them. As ever, constantly adding new characters increases the number of moving parts and the likelihood that something will break.
If Nuverse can continue to keep Marvel Snap fresh by adding new characters like Silver Surfer (out of a roster of literally hundreds of beloved characters drawn from various Marvel properties), the game should have a long and profitable life ahead of it. Keeping video game whales happy is an understandable priority, and Silver Surfer is a favorite with broad enough appeal that he even appeared as a Marvel-themed Fortnite skin. The question now is who else might join in the fun by month's end.
