The Spider-Versus season of Marvel Snap has brought with it a lot of new changes to the game, including Marvel Snap's all-new Conquest Mode, but the latest card added to the game seems primed to turn the meta on its head. Spider-Ham may be somewhat of a comedic character in the greater Spider-Verse, but he's no joke in Marvel Snap, offering players one of the best values out of all 1-Cost cards in the game. His ability has been shaking up the meta in a big way, causing many players to name him as one of the best 1-Cost cards in Marvel Snap.

While each season of Marvel Snap has elevated gameplay with the various new cards the game's added such as last season's High Evolutionary card, Spider-Ham has such a simple yet powerful ability at a very low Cost that warrants it becoming a staple in most players' decks. What's even better is that Spider-Ham is the first straight-to-Series-4 card in Marvel Snap, whereas most new cards are introduced to Series 5 first before dropping to lower card pools later on. As such, players will want to grab Spider-Ham as soon as possible to help them deal with some of Marvel Snap's greatest threats.

Spider-Ham Can Remove Marvel Snap’s Biggest Threats from the Equation

Spider-Ham isn't the first new card to be added during Marvel Snap's Spider-Versus season, coming off the heels of the season pass card Ghost-Spider and the previous Series 5 addition Silk. However, Spider-Ham is sure to have the biggest effect on the meta in the current season and the foreseeable future thanks to its awesome ability that turns the highest Cost card in the opponent's hand into a pig, removing its ability but keeping its same Cost and Power. For only a 1-Cost/1-Power card, this is an incredibly useful ability that comes with little downside to the payer.

Up until recently, one of the biggest threats in the Marvel Snap meta was Galactus, a card that could destroy all but one location and make for an irritating late-game surprise. While Galactus did receive a direct nerf from developer Second Dinner, the addition of Spider-Ham serves as an indirect nerf to Galactus as playing Spider-Ham while an opponent has Galactus in their hand would likely cause Spider-Ham's ability to hit it and remove its location-destroying ability. This effectively shuts down Galactus decks as most often they revolve around bringing out the cosmic being and reaping the benefits of his ability.

Not only does Spider-Ham's ability help players deal with Galactus, but it is useful for dealing with a lot of high-Cost cards opponents may be saving to drop on turn six. Powerful cards like Doctor Doom, Odin, Ultron, and Knull among others can be rendered basically useless when hit with Spider-Ham's ability. Being only a 1-Cost card with the potential to shut down an opponent's late-game momentum swing makes Spider-Ham easily one of the best bang-for-your-buck cards in the game and a great staple card for most Marvel Snap decks.

There are some risks involved with using Spider-Ham, however, as players could inadvertently hit opponents' cards with high-Cost and high-Power but a disadvantageous ability, and actually buff them by removing their ability but keeping their Cost and Power. Cards like The Infinaut, Destroyer, and Giganto that typically have abilities, which serve to hinder their utility because they come with such high Power levels may become more common in the meta as Spider-Ham usage increases among Marvel Snap players. While the rewards of running such a useful low-Cost card like Spider-Ham definitely outweigh the risks, players still need to be aware of these risks and plan to deal with them accordingly.
