Marvel Snap's latest update grants all players the Kitty Pryde card for free as an apology for the card having been removed from the game for so long. Players can find this card in their collection simply by logging into Marvel Snap after updating the game to the latest version, meaning Kitty Pryde will start showing up in matches as players test out new strategies with her reworked ability. While it's yet to be seen how exactly Kitty Pryde will fit into Marvel Snap's current meta, she could act as the perfect counter to another recently added card.

The card was initially added to Marvel Snap during the Days of Future Past season in March 2023. However, Kitty Pryde was quickly removed from Marvel Snap due to some game-breaking bugs that were caused by her unique ability. Following this removal, developer Second Dinner announced that Kitty Pryde would return to the game in May 2023 and be given to all players for free. Now that she has returned to the game, players are finally getting the chance to see just how useful of a card she can be.

Kitty Pryde Could be a Great Counter for Nebula

The original ability for Kitty Pryde allowed players to return the card to their hand to give it +2 Power each time they do so. As a 1-Cost/0-Power card, this ability was essential, but it broke the established rules of Marvel Snap as no other card could be returned to a player's hand at will, leading to some unintended game-breaking bugs. Her new ability still grants her +2 Power whenever the card returns to the player's hand, but now it can't be returned at will and is automatically returned at the start of each turn.

While this ability might not seem as strong as her original ability, Kitty Pryde has the potential to become quite the useful card in the current Marvel Snap meta, as she could pose a serious threat to the Guardians Greatest Hits' Season Pass card Nebula. As it stands, Nebula is a bit overpowered due to her ability to gain +2 Power each turn an opponent doesn't play a card at her location. Being a 1-Cost/1-Power card, the current version of Nebula is essentially a better Sunspot, who has received a nerf in the past due to his high usage and high win rate.

Until Nebula gets a nerf, Kitty Pryde could be an effective counter to run in a variety of deck types in the event that an opponent has this powerful Guardian of the Galaxy card in their deck. Since Kitty Pryde is only a 1-Cost card that returns to the player's hand each turn, she is an easy option to play turn after turn at the same location as an opponent's Nebula to ensure she never gets the +2 Power from her ability. Meanwhile, the player's Kitty Pryde will continue to power up as she returns to their hand each turn for +2 Power, putting her in a great position to be a sort of anti-Nebula.

Ideally, Kitty Pride would fit best with the bounce deck archetype that focuses on playing low-cost cards and then returning them to the player's hand using the abilities of cards like Beast or Falcon. This strategy can then be used to power up cards like Marvel Snap's Devil Dinosaur, The Collector, or even Hit Monkey when played in tandem. With Kitty Pryde's ability in mind, she is a natural fit within the bounce archetype, as well as other Marvel Snap decks focused on reducing the effectiveness of an opponent's Nebula card.
