Highlights

  • The movie Deadpool and Wolverine will introduce and reprise many characters, including those from the X-Men universe, which could be reflected in Marvel Snap with a dedicated album of variant cards.
  • Deadpool has had success in previous Marvel games and Second Dinner should prioritize content featuring Deadpool and Wolverine to make Marvel Snap more exciting and impactful when the movie releases in July.

Deadpool and Wolverine is going to have a field day with iconic Marvel cameos—the Super Bowl 58 trailer alone gave glimpses of Alioth, Pyro, and Cassandra Nova, for instance, with many more characters already supposedly leaked or hidden thus far. This is now a terrific opportunity for a game like Marvel Snap that relies on the MCU for a healthy helping of its seasonal content.

The simplest and most likely outcome will be for Marvel Snap to feature a debut card for the Season Pass such as Cassandra Nova and toss in associable variants for Deadpool and Wolverine. However, Deadpool and Wolverine will be far more all-encompassing and it would make for a special season of content if Marvel Snap could reflect that in kind.

The MCU Being Saved by Deadpool Would Be a Cause for Celebration

It wouldn’t be outlandish to say that the MCU’s stellar quality has diminished, even if there are arguments to be made about when exactly that decline began taking place. It’s impossible to tell how Deadpool and Wolverine will turn out based on a single trailer that doesn’t even commit to fully showing Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, but it does look precisely like a third Deadpool movie unflinchingly and unapologetically.

This means Disney didn’t trample all over it or have too short of a leash on it, which is evident in Disney agreeing to take the brunt of a racy joke early in the trailer. Deadpool arriving in the MCU—against his will or not—requires nothing less, and as Wade Wilson himself says, Deadpool and Wolverine could be the wrench that completely realigns and rehabilitates the MCU from its slump.

If nothing else, Marvel Snap is inevitably going to have a season devoted to Deadpool and Wolverine , but Second Dinner will hopefully have something more special in mind as a way to celebrate what could presumably be the most impactful Marvel movie since Endgame and until the next Avengers .

Marvel Snap Should Dedicate Multiple Seasons or Events to Deadpool 3

Not only does Deadpool and Wolverine bring Wade to the MCU but everyone else that tags along or has a cameo, and that includes Wolverine. The MCU has been incredibly shy about introducing X-Men and mutants before finally revealing Beast in a post-credits sequence for The Marvels, and yet Deadpool and Wolverine will be blowing the lid off of that secret with an atom bomb.

Because there will be so much the movie touches on from deep, forgotten corners of the Marvel universe before it gets swept up in a connected universe, Marvel Snap would do well by it to have content that can cover all of that. Like Marvel Snap’s Hellfire Gala or other variant album collections, perhaps Deadpool and Wolverine could receive its own album composed of a ton of different variants for characters who appear in the movie, for example.

Deadpool’s Paid His Dues in Past Marvel Games

Deadpool has starred in his own eponymous game and featured in countless Marvel ensemble games with his most recent outing as the first post-launch DLC character available in Marvel’s Midnight Suns. Marvel Snap’s Deadpool has only ever been effective in destroy decks, and yet the character could have a remarkably exciting summer in Marvel Snap if Second Dinner plays its cards right and knows to put a bit more emphasis on Deadpool and Wolverine content than other MCU-related seasons.
