Marvel Snap prevails as a mobile game for several reasons, and one of them is how it respectfully and proportionately represents Marvel characters. Some characters do not have their own in-game ability, such as The Thing or Cyclops, but even they have been imbued with Marvel Snap abilities courtesy of the High Evolutionary. Marvel Snap’s Uncle Ben is particularly entertaining with his ability to produce a Spider-Man card in the player’s hand when he is destroyed, and it would be incredible to see how DC characters would be represented with card abilities if DC had its own take on Marvel Snap.
Marvel Snap does have in-universe lore it follows with the Cosmic Cube that would be difficult for DC to replicate wholesale, though that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t try. DC having its own spin on the Marvel Snap formula would be a great way to reflect its own characters and celebrate that comics canon individually, while titles like DC Heroes and Villains’ Match-3 mobile game continue to follow trends that have come before them. In particular, it would be great to see what DC’s iconic Batman and Superman could look like with their own Marvel Snap cards.
Batman Could Be a Stealthy Tactician in DC’s Own Marvel Snap
Batman is not an imposing physical force when compared to anyone who actually possesses superpowers, but what he lacks in legitimate powers he makes up for in wealth, stealth, gadgetry, and strategy. This would probably land Batman at about a 3- or 4-Cost to make him more accessible than a high-powered character, and he would need to land at either a 4- or 5-Power level depending on how functional his card-related ability was.
His abilities could include anything from being able to move to another location at will via his grappling hook, destroying an opposing card with a batarang, or shielding another card at his location with his cape. There is almost no limit to what On Reveal or Ongoing ability he could have since the character himself relies on many different tactics in battle.
Like Spider-Man, Batman is easily one of his comic canon’s most influential and important characters. Therefore, it would probably be as difficult to obtain Batman’s card in a DC take on Marvel Snap as it was to obtain Spider-Man’s card when the mobile game was originally released.
Superman Could Be an Indestructible Powerhouse in DC’s Own Marvel Snap
Superman’s Kryptonian strength and invulnerability would of course necessitate having him be a 6-Cost character with a Power level of at least 10. It would then make sense if Superman’s card could not be destroyed, and his high Power level would be able to justify not giving him any other card-related abilities.
In fact, DC could make him fairly overpowered in terms of Power if a location tile was dedicated to Krypton and rendered Kryptonian characters’ Power levels to 1. This would make playing Superman detrimental if a location was to change mid-match, but would likely need Superman’s Cost to be much lower so that fans could actually play him before that could come into consideration.
Superman’s abilities make him overwhelmingly powerful to the point where many DC fans find him uninteresting, but cards like Lex Luthor or locations like Krypton could work to actively suppress Superman and other Kryptonian characters like Zod or Supergirl. DC doesn’t currently have its own Marvel Snap, but there is massive potential there for characters to be represented the same way in a mobile game that is as exciting.
