Along with the June 2023 Spider-Versus Season Pass, many 'Spider-People' cards were introduced over that month in Marvel Snap. Spider-Ham was one of those Spider-People cards that fans could obtain starting June 2023. To collect the Spider-Ham card, players would have to purchase it from the token shop or earn it in Pool 4. Spider-Ham is an amazing 1-Cost card with 1 Power.

When played onto a location, assuming the card still has its ability, Spider-Ham's On Reveal ability will activate. This ability allows Spider-Ham to transform the highest-Cost card in the opponent's hand into a pig card. The Pig card retains the Cost and Power of the initial card but essentially takes away its ability. With such an atypical ability, Spider-Ham works in many decks.

The Best Deck For Spider-Ham

an interference kazoo deck

Spider-Ham doesn't have a systematic ability that works with other cards of the same group, such as movement decks or discard-based decks. Instead, Spider-Ham is a great card for players to fill in a 1-Cost gap in their deck, an interference deck, and a niche On Reveal deck. There are many decks that Spider-Ham works well within in Marvel Snap. This Interference Kazoo deck is easily the greatest combination of cards that work with Spider-Ham.

Seeing as Spider-Ham is a 1-Cost card, Spider-Ham can gain Power and become a powerhouse with the help of other cards like Ka-Zar in this Kazoo deck. To make Spider-Ham a meta-progressive card, it needs the help of other cards that boost its Power for players to win a location with it. In This Interference Kazoo deck, there are plenty of cards that not only work great with Spider-Ham but also work great when paired with one another in almost any order.

To make sure that a Spider-Ham deck remains optimal, players can go on of two different routes: One route in which players create a deck that includes cards like Ka-Zar to give Spider-Ham more Power, or the second route in which players create a specific deck where they can choose any 1-Cost card to fill in that slot. Essentially, any deck that prioritizes higher-cost cards or a certain ability that won't be activated until later in the game is more lenient with its lower-costing cards. For these decks, Spider-Ham is a great option for players to consider.

As said, Spider-Ham works best in a Kazoo deck, where cards will consistently bring up Spider-Ham's lacking Power. Since Spider-Ham falls into the interference category among players, pairing it with other interference cards can disrupt an opponent's strategy and lead to victory. The best Spider-Ham Kazoo deck needs the essentials: Ka-Zar, Blue Marvel, Onslaught, Zabu, and, of course, Spider-Ham. Some of the other cards in this deck can be switched around (mainly the 1-Cost cards), but these are mostly interference cards that combo well with Spider-Ham. Here is what each card does in this Interference Kazoo deck:

  • Spider-Ham: Transforms the opponent's highest-cost card into a pig. (gets rid of its ability)
  • Squirrel Girl: Adds a squirrel to each other location.
  • Iceman: Gives a random card in the opponent's hand +1 Cost.
  • Korg: Shuffles a rock into the opponent's deck.
  • Snowguard: While in hand, Snowguard transforms into a hawk or a bear each turn. (Hawk ignores all location abilities. Bear triggers the location's ability.)
  • Yondu: Destroys the top card on the opponent's deck.
  • Zabu: 4-Cost cards cost 1 Energy less.
  • Shang-Chi: Destroys an enemy card at Shang-Chi's location that has 9 or more Power.
  • Ka-Zar: Friendly 1-Cost cards have +1 Power.
  • Rock Slide: Shuffles 2 rocks into the opponent's deck.
  • Blue Marvel: All friendly cards have +1 Power.
  • Onslaught: Doubles Ongoing abilities at Onslaught's location.

The Best Cards To Use In A Spider-Ham Deck

ka-zar and blue marvel cards

Cards that grant other friendly cards a boost to their Power combo are the best with Spider-Ham. That is because Spider-Ham only withholds 1 Power due to his Energy Cost and great ability. When using cards that can give Spider-Ham more power, players are more likely to win over a location that Spider-Ham is played upon.

With this certain strategy, cards like Ka-Zar, Blue Marvel, Iron Heart, and Forge are all great cards to pair with Spider-Ham in order to raise his Power. Otherwise, cards like Zabu and Ka-Zar, Odin, Beast, and Goose are all other cards that have great synergy with the spider and pig-themed hero.

The Best Spider-Ham Counter

cosmo and killmonger cards

Spider-Ham relies on its On Reveal ability to make any sort of difference in the midst of a match. Because of that, it can be tricky to read when the opponent would lay out a Spider-Ham other than at the beginning of the game. In order to counter a Spider-ham from reducing a player's highest-cost card in their hand to a simplistic pig, players will want to prepare with a card that stops On Reveal abilities.

Cosmo is the best counter to any On Reveal card, as Cosmo has the Ongoing ability that stops all On Reveal abilities from happening at Cosmo's location. That doesn't stop Spider-Ham from swinging to another location though, so players can also use Professor X, Killmonger, or better yet, Leech to stop Spider-Ham.
