Although some of these new features are already starting to hit the game, Marvel Snap's latest Avengers vs X-Men season would have been the perfect opportunity to introduce two new features at once while drawing inspiration from one of Splatoon 3's most popular aspects.

The Avengers vs X-Men season of Marvel Snap is already a contender for one of the year's best thanks to some fantastic new cards like Hope Summers and War Machine joining the line-up. Additionally, players can earn a new emote from Marvel Snap's Season Pass for the first time, marking a hopeful direction for the future of the game's social features. One way this season could have gone even further with its social features while giving players a taste of the clan system is by introducing a seasonal event where players actually choose between Team Avengers and Team X-Men and compete for rewards.

It seems like Marvel Snap has a big year in store for fans in 2024, as the roadmap of content released by Second Dinner has some exciting additions.

Marvel Snap's Latest Season Should Have Let Players Choose Between Team Avengers and Team X-Men

While in-game events for online multiplayer games are not a new concept, the Splatoon series has become popular partly due to its frequent Splatfest events. The weekend-long event allows players to choose a team they want to fight for and then battle it out against players from the opposing teams for the chance to earn points for their team. At the end of the event, the Splatoon 3 team that earns the most points across the board wins the Splatfest, and members of that team earn special in-game rewards.

Splatfests have been a great way to add another layer of friendly competition to Splatoon 3 and get the community to interact with one another in new ways. With how many different heroes, villains, and teams Marvel has, it seems like a no-brainer for Marvel Snap to include in-game events similar to Splatfests. The Avengers and X-Men are two of Marvel's most iconic teams, so this season of Marvel Snap would have been the perfect opportunity to feature this type of competitive in-game event.

How a Splatoon 3 Splatfest-Style Season Could Work for Marvel Snap

Although the Season Pass rewards for Marvel Snap's Avengers vs X-Men season include cosmetics for both teams, giving players the option to choose one of the two teams and compete for unique rewards would be a great way to encourage team alignment in the spirit of the seasonal theme. Players could choose whether they wanted to represent Team Avengers or Team X-Men at the start of the season, then accumulate points for their chosen team by winning matches, with matches at higher ranks or matches in Marvel Snap's Conquest mode potentially being worth more. At the end of the season, the team with the most points could earn a special cosmetic item.

Perhaps the reward for one of these events could be a unique emote for the winning team to use, or a special variant for the mascot of the chosen team, such as Professor X for Team X-Men or Nick Fury for Team Avengers. Another way rewards could be distributed could simply revolve around which cosmetic is chosen, giving all players who participate a unique reward that changes depending on which team wins the event. An event like this could also work for a future Civil War-themed season, where players can choose either Team Iron Man or Team Captain America, demonstrating that this concept has a lot of future potential.
