An ideal deck for Annihilus is a Hobgoblin-Green Goblin disruption lineup. To replicate this build, players will need to team up Annihilus with negative cards like Hobgoblin and Green Goblin and complete the setup with Debrii. Rockslide, Korg, Ironheart, Darkhawk, The Hood, The Sentry, America Chavez, and Ms. Marvel.

Players who lack rare cards like Darkhawk and Ms. Marvel can replace them with Black Widow and Mister Negative.

How to Play Annihilus

Play Annihilus as a disruption initiator. First, fill the board with 0 or negative cards and then send them flying to the opposing side. When Annihilus fails to switch cards, he destroys them on the friendly side, minimizing the risk of friendly junk.

Note that:

  • Annihilus cannot move cards in Professor X’s lane.
  • He transfers cards in the play order. The first card played after Annihilus flies first, the second next, and so on.
  • Locations can trigger Annihilus’s ability. He can switch cards that are afflicted with negative Power by location effects.

Best Counters for Annihilus

As an On Reveal card, Annihilus can be prevented with Cosmo. However, other strategic counterplays include Professor X, Carnage, and Valkyrie. Essentially, all friendly destroyers that could get rid of switched cards would be beneficial against Annihilus. (Think Deathlok and Destroyer.)

Is Annihilus Worth It?
