Heading into 2024, Marvel Snap is set to make its second full year of content bigger than ever before. In order to give players an idea of what they can expect in the coming year, Marvel Snap developer Second Dinner released a roadmap of planned content coming in 2024. There are a lot of new features in the works for Marvel Snap if this roadmap is accurate, so players looking to pick up the game for the first time, or dive back into it in the new year will have a lot to look forward to.

Despite winning the award for Best Mobile Game at the Game Awards in its launch year of 2022, Marvel Snap is by no means a perfect game. The team at Second Dinner has made numerous changes to the game over the past year in an effort to balance community feedback with Marvel Snap's monetization model. Although some of these changes have been controversial, such as Marvel Snap's Spotlight Caches and Conquest Mode, the 2024 roadmap looks like the game will finally be adding some fan-requested features that have been sorely needed for some time now.

Marvel Snap has seen a lot of changes since it first launched in 2022, some of which have players reconsidering if the game's worth playing in 2024.

Marvel Snap Development Roadmap 2024 Breakdown

It's a good sign for Marvel Snap fans that Second Dinner is being so transparent with their plans for the future of the game. The additions detailed in the roadmap point towards the game moving in a direction that should give players a lot of freedom to further customize their experience, as well as introduce new collectible content and make that content easier to access. A live-service game like Marvel Snap lives or dies by the content it is continually able to put out, and it looks like Second Dinner has a lot of good things in store for the game on top of its regular seasonal content.

Marvel Snap Updates Coming Soon

  • Album Improvements
  • In-Game Events
  • Character Mastery
  • Selectable Card Effects
  • Selectable Borders
  • New Infinity Splits
  • Collectible Reactions

Of all the new features detailed in the roadmap, these are the ones said to be in final development and are being tested for release soon. After introducing Albums to Marvel Snap last season, Second Dinner has considered community feedback and is working to improve the feature by adding Albums of various sizes, parent Albums, and additional ways to collect emotes from Albums. Also on the way are in-game events for players to participate in, with the first one introducing the concept of Leagues where players of similar skill levels compete to earn the most cubes and win rewards for doing so.

There seem to be a lot of new card customization options in the works for Marvel Snap in the near future, with Second Dinner promising that selectable card effects and borders, along with new infinity splits are coming soon. Many players pride themselves on having the most aesthetically pleasing combination of Marvel Snap's card variants, infinity split effects, and card borders, but these have not been customizable on the individual level so far. With this change, players should be able to pair their perfect variant with the border and card effects that best suit the look they're going for.

Character Mastery is also on the way for players who like to collect and use specific characters in Marvel Snap. Players will be able to earn special Mastery Milestone challenges as they increase their mastery of a character by collecting multiple cosmetics for that character. In addition to unlocking rewards like new splits, collectible borders, and currency from completing these Mastery Milestone challenges, players will also be able to collect new Reaction emotes by leveling up their mastery of a Marvel Snap character.

Marvel Snap Updates In Development

  • Clans 1.0
  • Collectible Borders
  • Booster Vats
  • More Event Types
  • In-Game Graveyard

As opposed to the features Second Dinner claims are coming soon, the features listed as "in development" are said to be actively being worked on, but still a ways off from release. In an effort to increase the social features available in Marvel Snap, a Clan system is being developed to allow players to work together to earn special rewards as a group. It's unclear what types of rewards these will be, or if they will be tied to any new in-game events specifically for Clans, but it's encouraging to see Second Dinner work to improve the social interaction between Marvel Snap players beyond using emotes to communicate.

One feature that fans have been requesting for a while now is an in-game graveyard that lets players see which cards have been destroyed or discarded, and with how popular the destroy and discard archetypes are in Marvel Snap, this type of feature is greatly needed. Booster Vats are another important fan-requested feature that will help make targeting specific cards to receive boosters after a match much easier. It can be frustrating to try and level up a card only to rarely receive the boosters needed for it, even when using it in a match, so this addition will be more than welcome.

Marvel Snap Updates In The Concept Phase

  • New Game Mode
  • New Game Boards
  • Clan Competitions
  • Ultimate Variant Evolution
  • New Card Mechanics

Unlike the other features included in this roadmap, these are still in the conceptual phase and are something Second Dinner would like to add to Marvel Snap eventually. After Marvel Snap introduced Conquest last year, it makes sense that they would be toying with the idea of adding other new game modes in the future, and the number of interesting new card mechanics added over the past year, such as with High Evolutionary or Nico Minoru, it will be exciting to see what other interesting card mechanics they come up with. Clan Competitions could also be a new type of exciting event that could allow Clans to compete directly with one another for unique rewards.
