Marvel has revealed its newest game titled Marvel Rivals, a free-to-play team-based PvP shooter that could easily rival Overwatch. Developed by NetEase Games, Marvel Rivals will let players control superheroes and villains from the Marvel universe, who each have their own unique abilities to help them complete objectives. The closed alpha version of the game comes out this May, featuring 18 playable characters, with more coming in future updates.

Marvel Rivals' announcement trailer showcased many well-known Marvel characters like Spider-Man and Loki, regardless of their hero or villain status, as well as relatively obscure characters that hardcore fans will recognize. This includes Luna Snow, who can be seen shooting ice on the battlefield like Overwatch's Mei.

Get to Know Marvel Rivals' Luna Snow

marvel luna snow

Hailing from South Korea, Luna Snow (real name Seol Hee) is an aspiring K-pop idol who can control ice. She debuted in the first chapter of War of the Realms: New Agents of Atlas back in 2019, where she's introduced as one of the members of Agents of Atlas, along with Shang-Chi, Wave, and more.

Luna's superhero story began when she performed at a Stark Industries function, which was ambushed by the science-obsessed organization A.I.M. After trying to defend the attendees, Luna was locked in a storage freezer, where she was exposed to an advanced cold-fusion experiment that later granted her the ability to manipulate ice. Using her newfound abilities, Luna was able to escape and defeat A.I.M.

Since then, Luna and the rest of the Agents of Atlas have worked together to protect people living in the Pacific Rim and across the world. Their most prominent foe is Sindr, the Queen of Cinders and Msupelheim, who wants to turn Earth into her personal fiery hellscape.

Beyond the comics, Luna has also appeared in another Marvel game - namely, she was a Speed-type character in Marvel Future Fight. Most of her abilities apply Cold Damage to enemies, as well as provide allies with additional speed and immunity to Cold Damage. Luna is also part of Marvel Super War's roster, where she conjures up ice that causes destruction and heals allies. Marvel also released Luna Snow songs that play in both games:

  • Marvel Future Fight: "I Really Wanna," "Fly Away," and "Tonight"
  • Marvel Super War: "Flow"

What Does Luna Snow Bring to Marvel Rivals?

Based on the Marvel Rivals' announcement trailer, Luna seems to be a support hero. She can skate along the map using her ice powers, and may be able to buff her allies' stats in some way. The skillset that was shown so far is definitely similar to her support abilities in Marvel Future Fight and Marvel Super War, but it's still unclear if she'll be a healer as well. Meanwhile, when she teams up with Namor, Luna helps him summon icy creatures that can attack enemies.

As an ice manipulator, Luna can be compared to Mei from Overwatch. The difference between the two is that Mei is a DPS character who can build a defensive ice wall. Right now, it's still unknown if Luna will be a viable damage dealer or if she's exclusively a support hero in Marvel Rivals.

With more than a month left before Marvel Rivals releases its closed alpha version, players will most likely learn more about the playable characters in the coming weeks. It will be interesting to see how Luna will be used in battles, especially how she can team up with other heroes to secure a win. Perhaps she can even perform in the middle of a battle.
