Marvel Rivals alpha test is underway, but that's far from the only story surrounding the hero shooter. The Overwatch-inspired title was just on the receiving end of a major leak, one that revealed 20 new characters and five new maps ahead of schedule. However, one part of this leak begs as many questions about Marvel Rivals as it answers.

While the game's alpha test, running from May 10–May 20, allows players access to only a select few heroes and maps, a recent Marvel Rivals leak has shown off far more. From the looks of what data has been revealed, the game's multiverse-spanning plot will be shown off by maps like Hydra Erebus Base, Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda, Klyntar, and more. The roster, should all leaks be proven true, will also highlight this by pulling from every corner of Marvel's mass of worlds. According to leaker Miller Ross, huge names like Black Widow, Thor, Wolverine, and many more will be included in Marvel Rivals.

Marvel Rivals wears its Overwatch influences on its sleeve, and there's one playable hero that finally makes a scrapped Overwatch concept a reality.

Marvel Rivals' Roster Feels Incomplete Without Daredevil

Though this isn't the first time Marvel Rivals has been hit by a leak, it is perhaps the most major the game has received. The leaked roster especially answers many questions provoked by early trailers; should the leaks be correct, Marvel Rivals will have covered just about all of its bases. It'll have hit on most of the popular Avengers members with the additional spice of some left-field picks. On the other hand, one character in particular is still missing—Daredevil, the Man Without Fear, is conspicuously absent.

Daredevil Is An Essential Piece Of The Marvel Whole

Daredevil debuted back in 1964, placing him among some of Marvel's first heroes. As such, he and his countless iterations have more than a few crossovers under their belt, playing a role in many major comic events. Though prolific, what's important about Daredevil is how he encapsulates the original philosophy behind Marvel heroes.

Daredevil's double life as a lawyer and vigilante is closely tied to the specific locale of Hell's Kitchen, a working-class neighborhood more concerned with grounded crimes compared to cosmic epics.

It might make some sense, then, for Daredevil to be absent in Marvel Rivals' multiversal odyssey given his ties to Hell's Kitchen. In fact, the comics have often shown Daredevil repeatedly refusing offers to join teams like the Avengers and remaining in his slice of New York.

On the other hand, Daredevil could be a way to anchor Marvel Rivals, maintaining more grounded motivations even amid larger-than-life stakes. This may not be exactly what the game needs, but if NetEase wants players to fall in love with these popular characters all over again, a human core would be a huge boon.

This is all without mentioning Daredevil's incredibly unique abilities. Translating Daredevil's radar sense into Marvel Rivals might be an uphill battle and could be a reason for his absence from the leaked roster. Despite this, it'd be worth overcoming the challenge to patch this hole in Marvel Rivals' roster. Moreover, it could be parleyed into a new and unique playstyle—one that could be as simple as a filter or one that could turn Daredevil's echolocation into a skirmisher/recon kit.

Daredevil Is About To Hit The Big Time

Daredevil is about to get another series and it'd be strange for Marvel games to not capitalize on this. Daredevil: Born Again is set for 2025, and including the character in Marvel Rivals would be a solid tie-in.
