Marvel's Midnight Suns players have set out on the journey to stop Lilith, complete with several deep mechanics that make it one of the best in the strategy genre, but there are plenty of tips and tricks players need to learn to make the most of their playthrough. Indeed, Marvel's Midnight Suns' tactical combat, prep work, in-game systems, and more are all incredibly thorough, with tons of micromanagement to fine-tune every part of the game.

While there are plenty of great guides out there for Marvel's Midnight Suns, Lead Designer Joe Weinhoffer has gone online and shared a few advanced gameplay tips to help players in their journey to defeat Lilith. Working these tips into their approach to the core gameplay loop will no doubt go a long way in making friends faster, making the most out of combat, and more.

Indeed, perhaps even following some of these tips will help players avoid some of the most common mistakes in Marvel's Midnight Suns. As far as Weinhoffer's list, it follows:

  1. Bring every hero on a mission at least once to unlock their research projects in the Forge.
  2. Take the Hunter on as many missions as possible to earn small friendship rewards with other characters. Players can't make friends if they are absent themselves.
  3. A Gamma Coil's ability cards always match the heroes who players took on the mission; this is an easy way to guarantee cards for certain heroes.
  4. Once a hero has gone on enough missions, non-upgraded modded cards can start appearing for them in Gamma Coils. These modded cards can still be upgraded; they require more Essence, but do not require a duplicate card.
  5. Salvaging mods off of a card costs a small amount of Essence, but doesn't salvage the card, which is useful when players need duplicates.
  6. Combat Items can also be salvaged, while Arcane Chests are a great source for new items.
  7. Using Chained abilities with status affects on a single enemy stack, so chaining Blade's Strike on a single enemy twice gives them 4 Bleed instead of 2.
  8. Reading new books in the library can level up Arcane Knowledge quickly.
  9. When players beat Marvel's Midnight Suns, there are two games modes: Endgame, which continues play with high-level general missions and customization options, and New Game Plus, which restarters the game but carries over the hero roster, friendship levels, and unlocks.
  10. The maximum level heroes can reach by training in the THREAT Room will rise over time, so the max matches the highest hero level on the roster.
  11. Pet Charlie every day!

Given the length of Marvel's Midnight Suns, it seems like a safe bet that many players are still working their way through the content, even if some have sped through it. Many of these tips would work well into the playthrough of the game, but it's also good to keep the endgame content in mind. Several achievements are tied to completing something in a single campaign, so it sounds like players will still have time to do these, when everything is said and done, while playing New Game Plus keeps the roster which will add some chaotic fun to the story.

Marvel's Midnight Suns is available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X, with PS4, Switch, and Xbox One versions still in development.
