Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is a turn-based tactical RPG developed by Ubisoft and published by Nintendo. When the Rabbid's latest hijinks inadvertently wreak havoc on the Mushroom Kingdom, Mario must team up with friends both new and old to save the world.
Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle has an upgrade system that can be used to strengthen the various members of the party and unlock new skills and capabilities. This is accomplished by spending power orbs, so this guide will explain how to unlock them.
Unlocking Power Orbs
The key to gaining access to power orbs in Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is the game's first midboss, Pirabbid Plant. This boss is fought halfway through the Ancient Gardens, the first world of the game. Pirabbid Plant attacks with fire, which can cause party members to panic and run out of cover, and has an excellent attack range.
This means players will need to make good use of cover and the high ground when fighting it. Using the pipes to reach the high ground in the four corners of the arena can provide the party with additional damage and good cover from its attacks while blasting the various fire blocks when it takes cover behind them can smoke it out of cover while dealing massive damage.
Since the player only has access to Mario, Rabbid Luigi, and Rabbid Peach at this point in the story, they'll have to make good use of their skills to pile on the damage. Rabbid Peach and Luigi can draw enemy fire and tank them using their shields. Rabbid Luigi's shield renders him totally immune to the fire status effect, allowing him to make use of riskier cover if it becomes necessary, while Rabbid Peach's shield is more balanced in its utility.
Pirabbid Plant will go down quickly as long as players have a good grasp of the combat system, unlocking power orbs for use. Players receive 10 power orbs for beating Pirabbid plant, allowing them to make a start on upgrading the party.
Obtaining Power Orbs
Getting hold of extra power orbs is thankfully a straightforward affair as they can be found in chests, obtained when clearing a mission for the first time, and by completing challenges for a world (which unlock after a world is cleared for the first time).
A thorough exploration of the game world makes collecting power orbs a simple affair, though players should know that there aren't enough power orbs in the game to fully upgrade everything (though thankfully all expended orbs can be refunded if players wish to try a different build).
