Super Mario Maker on the Wii U has had more longevity than perhaps any Super Mario game before it, and that's thanks to its robust level creation tools. Not only can Super Mario Maker players create their own levels, but they can also download a huge number of player-made stages that have been uploaded online. One of the more famous Super Mario Maker player-made stages is an RNG level called Lucky Draw, which has a 1 in 7.5 million chance of being completed. Well, after 4.2 million attempts by the community, a Super Mario Maker player and network analyst named Josh has finally cleared Lucky Draw.

Josh wasn't streaming Super Mario Maker when he cleared Lucky Draw, and he has no footage of the stage completion actually taking place. He just left his Wii U on and let it replay the level endlessly, so he wasn't even looking at the screen when he finally beat the stage.

Prior to Josh, there were 13 other people who managed to "clear" Lucky Draw, but it was determined that they were cheaters that used computer software to do it. There is some argument as to whether or not a user named Lathan is really the first person to clear Lucky Draw, but the general consensus seems to be that they cheated as well since it only took them eight tries to do so. Lathan has not come forward to claim the feat of being the first person to clear Lucky Draw at the time of this writing.

Now that we know for sure that at least one person legitimately beat Lucky Draw in Super Mario Maker, it will be interesting to see if a different stage takes its place as the next big level to beat for the community. People are still making and uploading levels to Super Mario Maker's servers, so the possibilities are endless.

Of course, there's also Super Mario Maker 2 for the Switch on the horizon. Super Mario Maker 2 adds even more tools for players to use when creating levels, and it will assuredly have stages similar to Lucky Draw, as well as other innovative level ideas fans haven't even thought of yet. Needless to say, it will be exciting to see what new ideas the community comes up with when Super Mario Maker 2 comes out for the Switch on June 28.

Super MarioMaker is out now for 3DS and Wii U.
