While it might have taken longer than most Nintendo fans expected, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is finally receiving new content. As part of the Booster Course Pass for the Nintendo Switch, gamers will be able to race across an impressive 48 new tracks. While this new content is being released in waves, the first round is only a couple of days away. Recently, the developers gave fans a sneak peek at what to expect from this first batch of courses, and some keen-eyed gamers have noticed some exciting new details about one track in particular.

As part of a tweet from March 15, Nintendo released a gallery of screenshots promoting the release of the first wave of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass tracks. Among the courses on display was the popular Coconut Mall. While this glimpse at the upcoming tracks was meant to increase hype for the launch of the DLC, some fans noticed an intriguing difference between this picture of Coconut Mall and one previously released several weeks ago.

According to this recently revealed image, it appears that the classic track from the Wii has received an upgrade since it was first announced for the DLC. In a comparison image shared by the Mario Party Legacy Twitter account, fans could see that this new look at Coconut Mall featured a significantly darker colored main building. In addition, the new image included an MKTV van with a Toad operating a camera on the roof, something lacking in the first screenshot.

While the updates to the visuals were only minor, the alterations still caught the attention of many Mario Kart 8 Deluxe players. Since this new image of Coconut Mall was posted on social media, numerous fans of the racing series have weighed in on the design. Among the comments, some liked the darker shades of the building. However, other gamers, such as SqueakyTheThird, commented that Nintendo should have gone further with updating the track, pointing out that the escalators still looked like “generic ramps.”

It is nice to see the developers include classics courses, such as Coconut Mall, in the Booster Course Pass for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. In addition to this memorable race from Mario Kart Wii, the DLC includes 7 additional courses from past installments in the series, like Mario Kart 7 and Mario Kart: Super Circuit. These remade tracks collectively make up 2 new cups called the Golden Dash Cup and Lucky Cat Cup.

It will be interesting to see what other changes gamers discover in these remastered tracks. Luckily, fans do not have long to wait as the first wave of the Booster Course Pass will release on March 18. Time will tell if this new content causes even more gamers to purchase the already best-selling game for the Nintendo Switch.
