Mario Kart 8 Deluxe players have another chance to prove their mettle, as Nintendo has just announced a new tournament for this month. The tournament will take place from August 14th until the 16th, and will see the top 8 players each day earn rewards in the form of My Nintendo Gold Coins.
In order to compete, players must located in Canada, the United States, or Mexico, and be available to race between 12 PM and 6 PM PT on each of the tournament days. The reward for placing in the top eight of the Mario Kart 8 tournament on any given day is 2500 My Nintendo Gold Coins, which is equivalent to $25 USD in store credit.
Players wanting to participate will need to enter a specific tournament code on each different day. On August 14th, the code will be 2956-9870-8011, on the 15th it is 3581-0995-1531, and on the 16th, players will need to enter in 2630-8380-0107. Doing this should get players in a lobby with others competing in the tournament, although if previous Mario Kart 8 tournaments are anything to go off of, it's worth noting that competition will be fierce.
The tournament will be 150 cc, so expect a fast paced race, but other than that everything is pretty standard. There are no teams allowed, normal items will be in play, all vehicles are permitted, and smart steering is disabled. There will be 24 races in total and groups will shuffle after every 4th race. Players don't need to do anything to claim their prize if they place in the top eight other than being sure that they are playing with a linked Nintendo Account.
