Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will release the Booster Course Pass Wave 4 DLC on March 9. During last month’s Nintendo Direct, it confirmed that Booster Course Pass Wave 9 would be added in Spring, but now fans have the official date to mark on their calendars.

The Booster Course Pass Wave 4 DLC for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will add eight more courses to the game, much like the other DLC waves that have been added. This includes a set of new courses that are brand-new in design, with others being ports from older titles like Mario Kart: Double Dash from the Nintendo GameCube or Mario Kart DS. Fans got their first look at one of these original courses during the February 2023 Direct in the form of a new course based on Yoshi’s Island. The rest of the courses have been revealed in a new trailer.

These racetracks will be a part of the Fruit and Boomerang Cups, and will be added on March 9, just a day before MAR10 day, appropriately enough. Aside from Yoshi’s Island, the other seven tracks for Wave 4 all originate from past games in the series, including the Mario Kart Tour mobile game. These tracks ported from Tour include Amsterdam Drift, Bangkok Rush, and Singapore Speedway. Then there’s Riverside Park, DK Summit, Waluigi Stadium, and Mario Circuit, which come from Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Wii, Double Dash, and DS respectively.

Booster Course Pass Wave 4 will also add another playable character, Birdo, making her first playable appearance on a mainline Mario Kart title since Mario Kart: Wii. This iteration of Birdo medium weight class, with the player being able to choose from her standard pink color and a variety of other colors, including green and orange. Birdo’s appearance should make her fans very happy, as she is also the first new character to debut as part of the Deluxe Booster Pass.

Nintendo plans to support Mario Kart 8 Deluxe well throughout 2023, as evidenced by this DLC adding 48 tracks in total. The pass is currently available to purchase digitally for $24.99, and it's also bundled in with the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is out now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
