The Golf Adventure mode in Mario Golf: Super Rush serves as the game's main single player story. Players will start out as a rookie golfer and must complete a number of challenges in order to improve the stats of their Mii golfer and overcome the evil Snow King. As far as single player campaigns go, it's relatively short, but should provide an enjoyable enough experience for those looking for a fun solo game mode to sink a little bit of their time into.

A lot of the game's core mechanics are explained through training and tutorial sections, while new equipment and shot types are unlocked as the story progresses. Most of the challenges are fairly straightforward and can be overcome with minimal effort, but a few will require a little bit of planning and the right strategy if players are to succeed at the first time of asking.

10 Practice Early For Extra Stat Points & Coins

Repeating the tutorials in Mario Golf: Super Rush

Before players get a chance to head out onto the fairways and test out their skills in a real round of golf, they'll first need to complete three practice sessions with the golf coaches in Bonny Greens. These will teach players the game's basic mechanics, but will also provide experience which can be used to level up the player's Mii golfer.

What some might not realize is that these tutorials can be repeated as many times as the player likes and grant a decent amount of XP and coins each time the goals are met. It only takes an extra ten minutes or so to gain enough experience to reach level ten, which can give players a huge advantage in the early stages of the game.

9 Learn How To Excel At Every Game Type

Game Types In Mario Golf: Super Rush

Although players will initially be restricted to regular rounds of golf, they'll quickly be introduced to both XC and Speed Golf. These game types are very different from standard golf and so understanding how they work and how best to approach them early on can make life a lot easier for players in the long run.

XC Golf is all about strategy and planning out the best order in which to complete the course's holes. Speed Golf features some strategic elements too, but also encourages players to act a lot more quickly than they otherwise would as they make their way through the course. Each requires a slightly different set of skills and so developing and cultivating the expertise to navigate these challenges will be imperative to a player's success.

8 Always Read The Instructions

Instructions in Mario Golf: Super Rush

Though there are only three main game types in Mario Golf: Super Rush's Golf Adventure mode, there are a lot of different tweaks and variations from challenge to challenge. Tempting though it may be to dive right into the next one without taking the time to read the rules, understanding exactly what's required can make completing these challenges a lot simpler.

As well as clearly laying out what needs to be done, the instructions at the beginning of each challenge often provide hints and tips to better equip players for what lies ahead. Knowing what to expect can allow players to prepare their clubs and equipment ahead of time too, rather than having to do so after failing the challenge the first time around.

7 Focus On Creating A Well-Rounded Golfer

Leveling up in Mario Golf: Super Rush

Players will quickly realize that adding stat points to certain categories can sometimes have a negative affect on others. This is most evident when it comes to increasing Power, which will generally cause other categories like Speed, Control and Speed to fall. Some may therefore be tempted to load up on Power before adding any points to the other categories to avoid these drops, but this isn't a good idea.

If players add too many points to Power, they'll soon find that increasing the level of other categories will now take multiple stat points to accomplish. As such, it's far better to raise the other categories to the maximum level first before even thinking about adding anything to Power. With all of the other categories maxed out, players can then increase their shot power while being sure to top up other categories as and when they start to fall.

6 Always Check Out The Clubhouse Shops

The Ridgerock Lake clubhouse shop in Mario Golf: Super Rush

Each of the game's main hub worlds has its own clubhouse and shop. Here, players are able to buy clubs, outfits and golfwatch apps that can be used to improve their performance on the course. Generally speaking, attire and shoes found in a clubhouse store will typically be designed to make the challenges found in that hub world a little easier and so players should buy everything on offer as soon as possible.

Usually, players will need to complete the first challenge in a hub world before gaining access to its store. They shouldn't need to worry too much about cost, as although some of the items can be a little pricey, the game is fairly generous when it comes to handing out coins and so most players will have enough to buy everything they need as soon as the stores become available.

5 Speak To Caddies To Know Which Clubs To Bring

Every course in Mario Golf: Super Rush is a little different and poses its own unique set of challenges. Though it's possible to figure these out for one's self by playing through a couple of rounds, it's far easier to speak to someone who's already well-versed with the quirks and conditions of the course. Thankfully, there are always caddies on hand with whom players can do just that.

Next to the Toad who helps players to sign up for challenges,  players will find a caddie who's more than willing to advise them on how to approach the area's course. By speaking to them before teeing off, players can get a fairly good idea of which clubs they'll need to bring and a decent indication of the issues they're likely to encounter out on the links.

4 Prioritize Item Pick-Ups Whenever Possible

Picking up items in Mario Golf: Super Rush

With the exception of its first few challenges, Golf Adventure mode requires players to run to their ball between shots rather than teleporting to it automatically. This is where those speed and stamina stats come in to play, but equally important are some of the items that players can find scattered around the fairways.

Stamina hearts will refill a healthy portion of a player's stamina bar; allowing them to run for longer or use more special dashes. Coins, on the other hand, are used to fill up a meter in the top left hand corner of the screen. Once full, players will be able to unleash a special shot, which is far easier to pull off than a regular shot and can get them a lot closer to the hole as a result.

3 Destroy Enemies Using Special Dash

The special dash isn't just useful for getting from A to B, but also when it comes to dealing with the game's numerous enemies. Most of them can be destroyed by using a special dash and then crashing into them, which can benefit the player in a number of different ways. Some enemies can be jumped on too, although speed dashing is generally the best way to go.

Crashing into the cacti-like Pokey's in the Balmy Dunes course will cause them to break into pieces, creating a far bigger obstacle for those players who are further back. Other enemies may need to be destroyed to clear a path for the player's next shot and doing so will also provide them with an additional coin to help fill up their special shot meter a little faster.

2 Sabotage Other Players To Increase Their Stroke Count

Sabotaging the competition in Mario Golf: Super Rush

As well as destroying enemies, the special dash can also be used to interfere with other players. The easiest way to pull this off is to crash straight into them, which will knock them over and remove a significant number of their coins in the process. Perhaps the most useful application of the special dash, however, is straight up sabotaging the opposition.

If players time their spin dash correctly, they can use it to move another player's ball. Sometimes doing so won't really provide much of an advantage, but if their ball happens to be right on the edge of the fairway, knocking it into the rough or a bunker can easily cost them an extra stroke. This is useful in any competitive challenge, but none more so than the pro Speed Golf challenge with Luigi and Donkey Kong at Wildweather Woods.

1 Always Pay Attention To The Weather

Some of the weather hazards in Mario Golf: Super Rush

Much like in real golf, the weather can have a huge bearing on how exactly things play out on the links. The first few courses that players visit in the Golf Adventure mode aren't too bad in this regard, but from Ridgerock Lack onward, players should start to keep an eye on conditions and adjust their style of play accordingly to avoid picking up any additional and unnecessary strokes.

This could be as simple as using more or less power or aiming slightly to the side to account for strong winds or using a little extra power while putting to counteract the effects of a wet green. Lightning in Wildweather Woods is a little different, however, as players may sometimes need to switch to a more powerful club or use their special shot to avoid being struck or having to play their shot short.
