When Disney Plus series Secret Invasion finally hits the MCU, the series will be bringing yet another well-known character in tow. Colbie Smulders has been confirmed to be bringing her well-known MCU character, Maria Hill to the series to fight alongside Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury.

The Disney Plus crossover event will be featuring a number of well-known Marvel personalities in Secret Invasion. The series will focus on a faction of shape-shifting Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for years. It's thought that at least a few of the characters that have made appearances in other Disney Plus shows, as well as MCU films will make an appearance and be revealed to actually be members of this particular faction of aliens.

While Deadline reported that Smulders is making an appearance in Secret Invasion, it's obviously not yet known whether this version of Maria Hill is going to be the supposed human that's fought alongside Fury and the Avengers, or whether or not she will also be a member of the Skrulls. At this point, she hasn't actually been confirmed by Marvel, but the publication stands by its reporting that the actress has indeed been signed on to join the cast.

While it is known that there will be plenty of characters from the MCU in the show, there are going to be some new additions to the roster as well. Happy Gilmore actor Christopher Mcdonald and Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke have been confirmed to be joining the roster. While it's not clear whether Smulders' Mari Hill will be herself or a Skrull, it is thought that Clarke's character will be part of the shape-shifting alien crew. However, so far, which character she will portray when she's in human form isn't known yet.

The new Skrull additions will join a unit that was first seen in Captain Marvel, including Ben Mendelsohn — reprising his role as Skrull Talos - as well as other possible newbies portrayed by Olivia Colman, Kingsley Ben-Adir, and Killian Scott. When Captain Marvel ended it seemed as if Talos and his clan were going to live peacefully in the universe with the people of earth.

One detail that also isn't known about the show is how close it will mirror the Secret Invasion comics. In the books, the Skrulls are the aggressors and they are indeed trying to invade and take over Earth. If Maria Hill and what's left of S.H.I.E.L.D. are tasked with repelling that invasion, it will be interesting to see what role Talos and his gang have in this version of the MCU story.
