Anyone who was able to pre-order a PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, or Xbox Series S already has several next-gen titles to enjoy at launch. Meanwhile, anyone who couldn't get hold of one or plans to do so later can play those same games on current gen consoles too, with the option to upgrade them to next-gen for free. The list of titles already includes Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Dirt 5, and Watch Dogs Legion, and now we can add Maneater, too.

While not a new game, having already released for consoles and PC back in May, developer and publisher Tripwire Interactive, alongside retail publisher Deep Silver, confirmed today that Maneater will be releasing on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PS5 alongside the consoles' launches. The announcement comes as the companies are celebrating Maneater managing to shift over 1 million copies worldwide.

For those who need reminding, Maneater is described as an open-world action-RPG (or shARkPG, as some like to call it), where players take control of a baby shark and must gradually evolve to become the top predator of the seas, fighting both humans and other sea life, including particularly powerful apex predators, and eventually take revenge against the fisherman that dismembered them.

On next-gen hardware, Maneater will support ray tracing, 4K HDR at 60fps, and new lighting effects, overall culminating in improved visuals and smoother gameplay. Tripwire and Deep Silver have also stated that these visual upgrades apply to the Xbox Series S as well.

PC owners won't need to worry about feeling left out either, as the PC release will receive the next-gen enhancements in early next year. More details about these enhancements will be revealed in the next few months. PS5 owners can look forward to immersive feedback thanks to the DualSense controller's haptic motors.

It doesn't sound as if Maneater on next-gen will receive any extra content, but those who already bought the game on PS4 or Xbox One may as well upgrade anyway. This is because, unsurprisingly, they can upgrade to the respective PS5 and Xbox Series X version at no additional cost, much like most other cross-gen games.

Maneater Cropped

When it initially released, Maneater received average to positive reviews, with critics complimenting its satirical script and humor and enjoyable exploration, though many found the gameplay, while fun, very repetitive and unable to sustain a 15 hour adventure.

At the time of writing, the game still has yet to release on Nintendo Switch, with no release date confirmed. Hopefully, it will launch before the end of the year.

Maneater will launch for Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X on November 10th, and then for PlayStation 5 on November 12th. It is currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
