Hasbro and Marvel have announced plans for an ambitious crossover that will see multiple Magic: The Gathering card sets based on Marvel Comics released over a multi-year period. Magic: The Gathering is one of the most popular tabletop card games in the world, and Marvel is one of the most recognizable entertainment brands in history, so this pairing has potential to be massive for both properties.

Magic: The Gathering has been releasing new cards for decades, including many crossover sets released under its Universes Beyond banner. Magic: The Gathering has crossed over with Lord of the Rings, Transformers, The Walking Dead, and various other properties, with future crossovers including Fallout, Final Fantasy, and now Marvel.

Magic: The Gathering confirms some of its big crossover plans for the next few years, which includes collaborations with Fallout and Final Fantasy.

The first Marvel set for Magic: The Gathering will be released in 2025. The multi-year deal will see many more sets released over time, though specifics on what those sets will entail are unavailable at the time of this writing. Regardless, it's clear that this is going to be one of the biggest Magic: The Gathering crossovers to date, and it will definitely be exciting to see what Marvel fans have to look forward to in 2025 and beyond.

Marvel fans will have to wait to learn about specific characters that will be featured in the Magic: The Gathering crossover sets, but the announcement video may provide some clues. The video announcing the colossal crossover focuses on a child reading Marvel comic books and playing with toys based on some of the brand's more popular superheroes. The video shows the kid reading what appears to be an X-Men comic, with Scarlet Witch specifically shown on one panel.

Later, the same kid can be seen reading a Thor comic, playing with a toy Mjolnir hammer, and even wielding Captain America's shield. Based on the video, it seems like a safe bet that the Magic: The Gathering Marvel crossover sets will feature Captain America, Scarlet Witch, and Thor at the very least, though that barely scratches the surface of all the iconic characters that could be featured.

The possibilities are near-endless when it comes to the Magic: The Gathering/Marvel crossover. It will contribute to what should be a big year for Marvel, as the new Blade movie and the Marvel Cinematic Universe debut of the Fantastic Four also coming in 2025, with the former concluding Phase Five of the MCU and the latter presumably starting Phase Six.
