The February update of Magic: The Gathering Arena is bringing some exciting things to the online platform, especially for players who like to bling out their decks. Starting February 11th, MTG Arena players will be able to get digital copies of the full art lands from the recent Theros Beyond Death expansion.
There are five different full art lands available, one for each color of the Magic Color Pie. The beautiful full art basic lands feature a wispy mana symbol floating amongst the stars. The background of each land matches the color of mana for which the land taps. These lands are incredibly popular in paper Magic, and most likely will be popular on arena too.
Theros Beyond Death had a Greek flavor and heavily emphasized constellations, so it makes sense that these lands incorporate that theme in their art. Each land was designed by Sam Burley, an artist known for his work on basic Magic lands. Hopefully adding these lands won't break arena again.
Once the February update is live, players will be able to purchase the lands through the Arena store. Each land will cost 3000 Gold each, or 15,000 Gold for the whole set. They will not be available for purchase with Gems. Once a player has purchased the land once, they'll be able to add as many copies to any number of decks they want. The lands can be used in both constructed or draft games.
It's no secret that Magic: The Gathering players love full art lands– so much so that some players are buying the Unsanctioned expansion just for the lands. And Arena players are no different. Full art lands are a great way to make your deck feel like your own, or to flex on your opponents.
It's worth noting that these lands are completely aesthetic and unlike these powerful lands, will not affect gameplay. They will tap for mana the same way that any other basic land would. But for players who like to bling out their decks, they will be a perfect addition to Magic: The Gathering Arena.Â
