MADiSON is a psychological horror puzzle game that displays both of these themes in a balanced way to suitably unnerve the player. However, MADiSON's lack of in-game hints means that some puzzles can be difficult to solve, especially with infrequent scares from all around.

Once the medallions start being revealed around the house, players will have already witnessed a few horror puzzle setpieces, such as changing Polaroid images and demonic apparitions. Thankfully there are no dramatic jumpscare moments directly involved when solving this puzzle, but it is still a necessary step to progress and may trip a few players up early on.

Finding Medallions

The first medallion can be found on the first journey down to the red basement door. Heading past the generator and through the open door, it will be clearly visible on a shelf before entering the crawl space to the right.

This medallion bears two colored circles resembling the planets Mars and Jupiter, which is a big hint for solving the puzzle.

The next medallion will appear a bit later in the game after exploring the basement and evading Madison's presence, so don't worry about it for the time being.

Once Luca finds the note that guides him to the attic, a separate puzzle involving picture frames and math will present itself. In order to get all the necessary picture frames, the medallion puzzle has to be solved first.

How to Sort Inventory and Locate Medallion Puzzle

The actual medallion puzzle can be located after opening "Grandpa and Grandma's room" with the Heart key found in the attic. It is likely that the player will have a full inventory by this point, so it is recommended that players make use of the red safe for storing items in between.

However, trying to pick up another item when the inventory is full will unlock a trophy/achievement in the process.

The red safe is seen at the start of the game when Luca picks up the notebook. In case players have forgotten the way back, it can be found in the side room next to the triangular wall markings used to solve MADiSON's well padlock puzzle.

Head left from the grandparent's room back to the dining room, then through the door on the other side of the room to locate it.

When there is enough inventory space, players will be able to sort two of the three medallions if they wish, but ultimately they will need to locate the third one to complete the piece. This final part can be found by grabbing the photo slides from the big cupboard in the grandparent's room, which will trigger the next sequence.

Players may remember the Virgin Mary statue tucked away in a wall alcove by the front door of the house, but returning to that spot after the slides have been picked up will show that spot is now empty.

Head through the recently opened front door on the right and down the linear corridors; the creepy statue will move away by itself and try to spook the player, but thankfully it cannot harm Luca.

Eventually, Luca will end up in front of a slide projector in an adjoining room, where the photo slides can be put in.

Keep on interacting with the projector until the screen starts to flicker by itself; this is the opportunity for Luca to use the instant camera. Taking a picture of the screen causes the final medallion to appear on the screen, and shaking the Polaroid will reveal the order of planets needed to progress.

Solving The Medallion Puzzle

Now that all three medallions have been collected, all the player has to do is take them back to the grandparent's room and put them in the right order.

Madison's ghostly presence may occasionally appear, but the player does not need to worry. As shown in the image above, the Polaroid capture displays the order of planets in this solar system, so even if players missed this detail, the puzzle is still solvable.

The buttons below each indent can be used to flip the medallions so that the planet order matches up with the photograph, in the following order: Mercury - Venus - (Earth) - Mars - Jupiter - (Saturn) - Uranus - Neptune.

Move the medallion in the second position to the third position, after which the other two can be inserted correctly.

As mentioned above, this medallion puzzle is used to solve another puzzle in the attic, so the challenge is not over yet.

MADiSON is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
