Madden NFL 21 has just unveiled the first set of X-Factor abilities for quarterbacks. A few familiar abilities are returning and a new ability that is fit for the one and only cover athlete Lamar Jackson.

X-Factor abilities are reserved for only the top players and enable them to take their game to the next level by achieving in-game goals. X-Factors were introduced last year with 20 different abilities players can possess. Only six quarterbacks received X-Factors so far in Madden 21, as opposed to nine quarterbacks last year.

Some of the returning abilities reserved for the best quarterbacks include Blitz Radar, Pro Reads, Gambler, and Bazooka. Both future Hall of Famers Drew Brees and Tom Brady will have the Pro Reads ability, which highlights the first receiver open after the in-game goal is hit. Russell Wilson will keep his Blitz Radar ability from last year, which is handy for picking up blitzers after the snap. Patrick Mahomes maintains his status as the only player with Bazooka, which enables him to increase his throw power by 15 yards.

Aaron Rodgers will possibly have the most advantageous ability with the Gambler X-Factor. When Gambler is active, passes cannot be intercepted by the AI, so the ability saves at least a few turnovers every so often. Rodgers' unfair ability may be challenged as the best by Lamar Jackson's new ability. Named after Jackson's nickname, the Truzz ability makes Jackson unable to fumble when it is active. The ability does make sense because of Jackson's uncanny ability to scramble without losing the ball, but the ability is sure to cause some nightmares for the defense.

Madden NFL 21 releases on August 28 on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions in development.
